Skype has come a long way and works perfectly for me over 4g. I place all international calls through it, and would place local calls as well if minutes were a problem and I didn't talk to everyone by text. I also have a Skype number subscription and it's pretty useful. I bought an iPhone 5 outright recently (proxy; cheaper even with shipping) and bought out my S3 so I could switch plans and resell it. The iPhone is around 55k a month through KT using the non-basic plan. Kakaotalk is poo poo for any number of reasons and I hate that it's becoming more popular. The wibro is actually pretty awesome and I'm surprised more people don't use it.

I would have to check (in subway), but I believe I have either the LTE-520 or 620 plan. Regarding proxies, you can get new or nearly new iPhones for a fraction of the Apple.com retail, because as mentioned Korea was excluded from the list of first- and second- release countries and it doesn't command a premium abroad anymore. I use OSX due to some exclusive audio software, and switched to an iOS device for ease of syncing. I wouldn't extrapolate anything from my case. I despise Samsung hardware, but Android is a far sleeker and more adaptable platform if you are at all tech savvy and the welded battery alone of the iPhone almost killed it for me.

I have the 32g model with 5g LTE a month of LTE and I pay around 90,000. That site sounds like a ripoff. My friend got the 16g model with 2.5g LTE a month and hers is a bit under 80,000 a month.

Yeah, I'll be the first to admit that I don't get Korean (or US) cellphone plans. I do think I'm gonna skip the iPhone 5 though, it would be nice but to get it I'd have to pay off the 400,000 left on the first phone I lost. The guy at the cell phone store is cool though, it's in the same building as my hagwon so we always smoke together. I get paid tomorrow and he said hes going to try to find me a used 4s for a lot cheaper so we'll see. I honestly just want ios, I know android is better but I've already sold my soul to apple with this iPad and it's just a lot easier to keep things running smoothly if I have an iPhone.

Wibro for me is 10k a month with a free IP registration on Olleh WiFi and 10 GB of data. That includes the price of the egg. 20 GB is 15k and 30 GB is 25k? The speed is literally faster than a cable internet connection in the USA. Everybody inexplicably hates it so there's never network congestion. If they had an unlimited plan for like 40ish I would just cancel my home internet. Downsides are 9 hour battery life and bad connection through physical barriers. The battery thing kinda sucks, but I have gotten a ton of use out of the thing.

Hey guys, where should I eat in Seoul? I'm leaving Korea for good and my girl and I want to go for a nice dinner before we fly out. Looking to spend around 50k per person, preferably not-Korean food, but I can be swayed. I hear there's a nice Brazilian steakhouse in the city? Any other suggestions? Thanks all.

I'm supposed to go to Seoul Immigration today and pick up my new ARC. However, the moving company is coming today at some point to pick up my stuff. There's a distinct possibility I won't make it to immigration today. Will there be an issue at immigration about picking up my card Monday morning before work instead?

The Brazilian steakhouse in Itaewon wasn't too good. It's a steak buffet so all the meat is cooked one way and sort of forgettable. That's the only Brazilian steakhouse I know of.

Mercado in Gangnam is the one you want, it's loving amazing. The chicken hearts were the surprise hit of my meal there. And when you say rare, they do it rare. I stared at my meat in awe at its beauty before I could bring myself to eat. I can't give directions but the internet can.

At least in Ansan it's the quickest thing, I was in and out in five minutes. They have a pickup window that you just walk up to (no number, just a line. There was one guy in front of me and one woman who tried to cut but gently caress that.) Hand them your receipt and they walk back and grab it, and you're done. So, if you can find even just a little bit of time today you can get it no problem.

Alright moving update: I had a friend contact the Korean Postal Service, and they schedule a pick-up of your things. They will deliver it on whatever day you need that they're working. It's w8,500 a box. The downside though, is you don't know what time they'll come. I suppose you could get a better time estimate, but I waited for 7 hours today. My day isn't completely shot, but it did screw with my immigration visit today. Still cheaper than a moving truck

I paid 80,000 for a dude to come, pick up 15 boxes plus a futon, and help unload everything. If you load the boxes yourself it's 50.000. You can ride in the cab too.

Neat article mentioning Yongsan Park, which is now occupied by the military base. Housing prices are also the largest indicator of the health of the Korean economy, along with exports. 3.3 sq meters = 1 pyong So yeah a two bedroom 20 pyong place in a newly constructed building should supposedly set you back almost $600k USD. quote:Recession Changes Map of Housing Market

I think I've been really unlucky with my gyms. It's absolutely enraging. People (read: ajjoshis) just camp out on the highest traffic machines like the chest press and the inclined bench and either do a hundred slow reps, rest or even just leave their poo poo on the machines and get huffy if you move them. I've seen ajjoshis reading the newspaper on the only chest press in the whole goddamn gym. I know a lot of them think they are lords and masters of all they see but jesus christ. It's getting to be where if I walk in and see a full gym I just want to turn around and walk back out. What I don't understand is why these old retired guys show up at peak hours. You've got the whole day free, why not roll in at one when the gym is empty?

I can't answer your question, but I'd recommend altering the game somewhat. I like to do it with "please," as that is a lot more important for them to know than "Simon says." I've always been able to get the point of the game across through demonstration, as well. It's helpful to explain in Korean a little about why "please" is important (since it's not directly equivalent from Korean to English), but they can understand the game easily enough. The bright ones will catch on quickly and help the others, as well.
