Base camps have fast travel that let you travel to previous areas, but you're locked out of it during certain parts of the plot.

Apologies if this has been spoken about already, but uh, is this longbow.. hitscan?

e; Also, don't enable tressfx hair. It looks poo poo and dropped me more than 20 fps (60/cap to 40 or so) with a 7970. Like, the normal hair actually looks a lot better than the tressfx stuff.

Anyone else crashing right after they exit the cave right at the start? Also, seconding that TressFX looks like poo poo and just makes the game run like poo. The difference between the Ultra and Ultimate graphic settings btw is just TressFX.

edit: Just crashing at random now. This is getting old fast :(

I wasn't mocking you, I've got Idle Thumbs on the brain. There's a game I'm sure I played fairly recently that had a lot of displayable collectibles, but I can't remember what it is. In this, you've got the Skyrim style 'rotate' camera thing whenever you want to look at what you've collected, and journal entries and similar have full audio playback. When you rotate the collectibles, sometimes you find sweet spots which reveal more about the item and you get more Xp as Lara narrates what it means. It's a pretty neat system. Kind of shallow, I suppose, but it's nice to see something other than 'collect thirty silver medallions'.

Most. You do have your Survival Instinct vision mode which helps. Clearing an optional tomb also gives you a map for the area with the relics noted on it.

On Normal difficulty Lara's pretty fragile. The game's not difficult, but if she's getting shot, she'll go down quick. It's fairly well balanced around that, though. The focus of the combat is on not getting caught out in the open.

I really hope the tomb puzzles change with the difficulty because they've been really easy on Normal so far.

Didn't Guardian of Light have puzzles that changed with the difficulty or am I making things up?

Bleh, and here I was prepared to order the game after people seem to be liking it well enough in general.

It's ATI cards that are supposed to have compatibility issues with games, goddamnit.

I keep hearing people mention how there are 23 kinds of collectibles in the game however, how many are there of each kind? 5? 10? 100?

That can be a vast difference.

It varies. A handful each, usually, but there's also more sorts of collectibles and challenges on top of that.

It's really great to hear there is more to the collectibles than just collecting them. Nothing was as terrible as the flags in the first Assassin's Creed.

I am liking it so far. The Batman comparisons to the structure of the game, but not the gameplay itself, are pretty clear now. Upgrading Tools+Bat/Hunter Vision are things I don't mind seeing copied. I really like upgrading and after getting the hang of how it feels, I like shooting with the bow.

Kinda gruesome though. Really just unpleasant but effective stuff you have to watch. I have actually cringed and had a few out loud "Oh poo poo!"s already from being caught off guard.

The TressFX thing is honestly more distracting than realistic and immersive, though. It kinda feels more like a constant tech demo they put on top of the game.
