Voltage posted:What do you think, offer $500? For the price you can get into a W123-chassis manual-transmission diesel 240d instead of the W114/5 chassis car. Why would you want to do so? Well there are a number of reasons. One is an odometer that runs to 999,999 miles, so you'll know what it actually has on it, two is far-better rustproofing, three is a host of minor improvements to the diesel engine that really add up, including a better lift pump, glow system and oiling system, four is a more isolated and less drafty cabin, five is a chassis that better supports the federally-mandated 5-mph bumpers and can more easily be switched to euro-bumpers if desired, and six is parts availability. Still, if you can get it under $500 and you can't see through the floorboards, you might find yourself enjoying it (slowly). I certainly don't think you'll get hurt at that price. Also, my favorite part: "Featured picture not of actual car...Real car is exactly the same model and color and looks exactly the same though" /Shows picture of W123 car, actual car is W115. I mean I totally get that to the untrained many Mercedes models look incredibly similar, but the reality is that there a few if any part numbers shared between the car pictured and the actual car. trouser chili fucked around with this message at 16:20 on Mar 5, 2013 |
