He sure makes a point of mentioning numerous times that up until the timing belt broke and hosed the engine something huge, the car was perfect! Well, who gives a poo poo if it was perfect, it isn't now is it? I'm pretty sure most cars were perfect at some point.

The bitchin' paint job adds so much power, it's almost as powerful as a V8.

If it is indeed a miskey, you could buy this for around $24k, or maybe a brand new V6 Camaro for the same price that doesn't look like a St. Patrick's Day reveler vomited on it.

For the price you can get into a W123-chassis manual-transmission diesel 240d instead of the W114/5 chassis car. Why would you want to do so? Well there are a number of reasons. One is an odometer that runs to 999,999 miles, so you'll know what it actually has on it, two is far-better rustproofing, three is a host of minor improvements to the diesel engine that really add up, including a better lift pump, glow system and oiling system, four is a more isolated and less drafty cabin, five is a chassis that better supports the federally-mandated 5-mph bumpers and can more easily be switched to euro-bumpers if desired, and six is parts availability.

Still, if you can get it under $500 and you can't see through the floorboards, you might find yourself enjoying it (slowly). I certainly don't think you'll get hurt at that price.

Also, my favorite part: "Featured picture not of actual car...Real car is exactly the same model and color and looks exactly the same though"
/Shows picture of W123 car, actual car is W115.

I mean I totally get that to the untrained many Mercedes models look incredibly similar, but the reality is that there a few if any part numbers shared between the car pictured and the actual car.

The dad seems like an idiot, and while the kid appears to take after his father, I'd be willing to bet that he has no idea that his "baby" is being sold while he's away :haw:.

It actually is a pretty nice looking GTi, I looked everywhere for one, but they were way overpriced, usually over 100,000 miles, and are hard to come by around these parts.

Argentina circa 1972(ish). They weren't common then, I'm sure they're next to nonexistent today. I've also see a few pictures of conversions floating about, buy that one on CL and take a plasma torch to it!
