Thundarr posted:As fitting as I think the idea of Caliborn representing the antithesis of Homestuck's root theme is (a kid who failed to grow up in a story about growing up), it'd be awfully anticlimactic if the major conflict was resolved by his space mom showing up, grabbing Lord English by the ear, and dragging him off stage against his whiny protestations. It'd also undermine every single other character in the comic and be lovely writing in general if the only way to defeat LE was to bring in a brand new super-powerful character to fight him. Oh, of course. That's what I think is going to happen, but I don't think it's going to work. I do think she's going to show up, though.

I really doubt that the beta Calliope / Momma Cal thing is going to be what defeats Lord English. I mean, it was prophecied that Jake... Oh my god. Jake is Caliborn's mom.

Any chance that a glitched out Calliope is a Trickster mode Calliope? It's the only glitch we've seen yet. There's probably one timeline where she got a hold of the other juju. Edit: And we'll need, what, 11111 clicks to get her out of the dance?

I hate to bib a dead horse, but has anyone who was an international backer had their kickstarter pledges fulfilled yet? The last mention I saw was WP's twitter saying they were starting to work on them on 2/19, but I haven't heard a peep since.

They mentioned that the packaging for international items was screwing them over, but that was probably long enough ago that it should have been sorted as well. Their Kickstarter update on the 14th of January said they'd be contacting international people who needed to add extra shipping, and I still haven't been contacted about that, but that might be because I got the $605 tier, so it's going to be one of the last ones sent out. In any case, it is kind of annoying that they're being so quiet about this, especially when I gave them so much money. Sent them a tweet, for all the good it'll do. EDIT: Well, that's at least a little more comforting, but I find it odd that they've been taking so long for international items when they pushed out (I assume) almost all of the domestic rewards within a month or two. frozentreasure fucked around with this message at 00:23 on Mar 12, 2013 |

I'm just talking out of my rear end, but it seems like they did the shipping like this: - The size of the response to kickstarter completely outpaced the size of their package shipping team (aka, probably like two people over at TopatoCo), and they had to scrabble. - In order to deal with the influx, without hiring a bunch of temps, they put all the packages in a big order, based on first domestic/international, then kickstarter/paypal, then rewardtier and sent packages out as they had stuff. So domestic, kickstarter packages of a certain tier came first, and international paypal packages are last. - But even then, they had to wait for things to be made / for Hussie to sign all those god-drat posters / etc, so shipping in general was delayed. Compound all these issues with the email system getting so many emails that it actually crashed and everyone going to a different social media site to get answers and you've got problems!

Has anyone ever looked at that tindeck site that's linked in the FYAD forum name right now? It looks like a generic music hosting social-networky thing, except that about 50% of all the popular tracks are Homestuck fan music. I saw a guy wearing a Dave t-shirt on the street today. It's kind of a major youth subculture now, isn't it?

Enough people posted Homestuck-related things on it that they added "Homestuck" as a genre for uploaders to tag their tracks with!

I think the main fear is that it would basically become impossible to even slightly express your interest in the work because you'd have irritating bandwagon tweens on one side being a massive embarrassment you don't want to associate with, and smug goony fuckers on the other going out of their way to obnoxiously at anything homestuck related because Pop Culture Is The Enemy. Basically the same as now, but in the real world instead of being confined to the internet.

Although, this cover of "We didn't start the fire" is appropriately silly. The funniest thing are the comments, where it emerges that at least some of the fandom is literally too young to recognise the original. I feel old.
