There's shitload of BMW's and Audis here, VAG is the most popular car provider (mostly VW and Skoda), and some beaten 12yo 3-series is available to pretty much anyone who can get a basic loan. On the other hand noone has fake BMW X7, that's why I kind of like it, despite the fact it looks almost as bad as X6.

The ssanyong came out years before the X6, I see them reasonably often here in China, since ssanyong was chinese iwned for a bit and I think its still in production, so the first time I saw the X6 the first thought that came to mind was that BMW had ripped off Ssanyong.

Given Bmw's recent styling decisions, if I didn't know better I would have belied that was a real BMW

I'm on a fence with that one - obviously some work went into making it. I saw it on the road, and I think it even had BMW steering wheel and fenders.

Only the grille has been modified. The rest is a simple badge swap.

That was my impression as well. All that's missing is the separate hazards, the extra tiny grille on top of the main grille, and some of the chunkier parts of the Aztek body style. The real question is, which one came first?

I seem to recall there being a movie about this, only instead of cars it was people.

You're right though, they did a good job matching the wheels.

Also, bonus points if they took the rear diff out of the baja and just made some sort of straight axle.

:stonk:

Did that slip completely under the firewall and bust through the thinnest part of the floor panel by pure coincidence, or are Jeeps really just that flimsy on the underside?

gently caress it, from now on I'm wearing an athletic cup and driving with my legs crossed.

It probably burst through where the floor and firewall meet, generally that's just a spot welded flat seam with a generous layer of seamsealer over it.

The only reason it did that instead of going under the vehicle (or worst case, tearing the poo poo out of the floor under the seat) is because the log went up over the axle housing just inboard of the knuckle, which raised it off the ground so it could impale the firewall. Else it probably would have glanced off.

Someone from this forum posted a page long rant (I want to say it was Muffinpox? Maybe?) about the designer, Bryan Nesbitt, going insane and locking himself in a whole floor of the Chevy design center with nothing but whiskey and cocaine for 18 months. I can't find it and my .doc that had the quote is corrupted. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I don't think it ever made it to a PYF quote thread.

This is either the donk equivalent of ricers installing a primered body kit on their car and claiming "I'm going to get it painted....soon," or else someone was late on the lease payment for their 26" spinners from the neighborhood wheel shop.

Uh, looks like a normal lowrider with hydraulics and Daytons to me?

Would look much better if it were 78 Monte Carlo or something, rather than a late model Town Car, I'll give you that.

That's a lowrider. Pretty much the exact opposite of a donk. A lot of lowriders have an incredible amount of work done to them in the paint, interior, and suspension department. Plus those tiny rims (daytons) can get expensive as well.

I'll admit an unhealthy fascination with getting some Daytons or Supremes with Vogues for the 68 Mercury. It's already fairly low with the P71/Hotchkis suspension, just high enough to get my jack under the framerail if I take the pad off.
