See You Next Wednesday is a podcast where every week we roll a die and the two winners get to go see the best-looking or generally anticipated film while the loser goes and sees something like Nicholas Sparks' Safe Haven. Ugh, yeah. The loser gets to subject the two winners to a punishment album for a week though, so there's that.

We also do something called Hero Swap Cage Match, where we've been pitting action stars in a fight to the death, tournament style. We've gone pretty deep into this, it's almost taken a year by this point. Also, one of the hosts has been watching Prison Break and talking about how ridiculous that drat show is.

All three of us are lovers of cinema - from art films, to forgotten b-movies. We've been doing the show for a solid year now, and we're up to 53 Episodes as of tomorrow. Any listens and feedback appreciated!

So I got some better microphones, and while they better than the older shitboxes I was using before, they have this really bad habit of becoming ever so slightly desynced throughout the recording. Its not terrible desync, but its still noticeable starting about 25 minutes in. does anyone know any solid tricks to fix this before or after done recording? I only use two microphones So honestly I wouldn't think it'd be so complicated a process as to cause desync, but hey I learn a new lesson every god dammed day doing this podcast.

Mescal posted:

Can anybody give me perspectives on interviewing (podcast style) in person versus over the telephone?

I work in radio, and podcast, and here's what I have learned of both of them.

Pros for Phone:

It's easier to get people who are over the country on their schedule, which means a lot of people are more open to doing an interview.

Skype is a thing now that works quite well.

Cons for Phone:

It usually sounds terrible. Everyone does it via their cell phones, which is horrible because the quality is crap and if they're on blue tooth, god help you.

You can't take any visual cues from the person. This isn't too bad, but it can mean people talking over one another.

A little lame I know, but honestly based off my stats for my show most of my site referrals come from FB so it's not entirely pointless, just stupid mostly. I'm still trying to deal with that mic desync to no avail, though I've managed to deal with its ill effects with a lot of annoying work arounds after the fact. Any help in preventing the delays on the mics would be much appreciated.

Horror 101 Podcast – Episode 18: The Changeling (Spoiler Free)

Our 18th podcast features a terrifying Canadian haunted house movie. The Changeling (1980) stars George C. Scott and Trish Van Devere in the first film to pick up the Genie for Best Picture after the Canadian film awards were given that title. The Changeling represents everything done right with a ghost story. It is a perfect execution of haunted house and mystery. There’s no gore or nudity, making this a wholesome horror very much like the old Hammer Horrors or AIP Vincent Price Poe films. But the chills in this movie are so profound film makers are still paying homage to The Changeling in their works to this day. We make sure to NOT disclose any of the mystery in our podcast so NO SPOILERS on this one. The Changeling was based on a true story from the 1960s. We give you the REAL FACTS about the history on the grounds of Chessman Park, which is stranger and more morbid than the fiction it produced. Take it from us. When General Patton is afraid….you will be too!

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS:
01:05 Greetings
02:20 Introducing The Changeling

It took us several years, but we finally managed to secure an interview with veteran voice actor Mike Reynolds. Mike's in his 80s now and has been voicing "old man" characters in cartoons for decades. Best known as being "Dolza," the leader of the Zentraedi aliens on Robotech, Mike was also several of the monsters on Power Rangers / VR Troopers / etc. It gets a little rambly as he talks about how proud he was to murder Ernest Borgnine and (technically) Kevin Costner on camera, but we really just wanted to hear him talk.

Title: Jason Squared: A Podcast by Two Nerds Named Jason
Genre: General Discussion, Film & TV, Entertainment, Video Games, Tech, News
Release Schedule: We're shooting for weekly, and usually upload sometime between Friday evening and Monday morning. We had a patch where that wasn't really feasible, but we're getting better at it.

What we're all about: The subtitle says it all, really. We're two nerdy guys with a coincidental first name - there's me, Jason H. (LBJ), and him, Jason G. (Superbuddy). After our umpteenth long, drawn-out nerd-rant discussion at work, we decided to start recording it and putting it out there for the world to suffer through enjoy. We cover a range of topics, from movies and tv, to video games to tech news. Really, the only thing we're bound to is the idea that it's something we both can semi-enjoy and discuss, and since we both have such nerdy interests and passions, those are pretty much the areas where we'll naturally end up straying.

We've only been doing this since about mid-February, so I'm making this post in the hope to get some feedback about what we could be doing better. I think we tend to do better with more structured topics that have plenty of items for us to jump through, as opposed to our more free form discussions. Because of this, I'd suggest something like our discussion of the Spider-Man movies, or all 5 Die Hard movies, or maybe us battling it out over the merits of Daniel Craig's Casino Royale as places for people to start. We are making more of an effort to make our more open-ended discussions interesting to listeners, as well as hopefully toning down some of the gadget nerdery of some of our episodes. I am trying to have our recent interview episode with Miss Kerri Doherty of "Geeking Out" done and uploaded by the weekend, so that's another area where we can hopefully get some practice in. We are looking to have more guests on, maybe not in an interview setting, but more to help break up the focus on just two nerdy guys talking about nerdy things.

So, that's where we are right now. Hope I didn't scare anybody off. Hopefully you kind goons can take a listen and let us know what we can improve to make things sound better. Thanks.

Oh, also: I'm sure this isn't the place, but if you listen to the earlier episodes, we had an in-podcast segment called "This Week in Nerd News." We've since spun it off into its own YouTube mini-show, and have stopped doing it in the podcast proper. If anyone would like to take a look at that and give us feedback on that as well, that'd also be much appreciated.
