I felt like a ninja, and my kung-fu was strong.

"Furthermore, owners of the original Dragon's Dogma will receive 100,000 Rift Crystals, unlimited Ferry stones and the Gransys Armor Pack consisting of six brand new costumes for free, upon purchasing Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen."

I'm curious to know if the DLC from the original Dragon's Dogma will work in Dark Arisen, if it comes bundled in the game (hahahaha no), or if it will get re-released just so people have to rebuy it.

Wow this game is fun! Just did the first well quest. I started attacking everyone when I first started to see if I could..so I had to wait a bit to do some quests but man is it fun. I actually have to pay attention and be smart about how I play my lil strider. Just need to get more stamina which I'm sure will come.

How do I experiment with items? I try to combine and I just get question marks. How do I add another item to combine together?

Also my bad rear end fighter, Chola is up for hire. My Xbox tag is Jastiger like my SA name. Look forward to hiring some of your pawns!

Finally started my hard mode playthrough, but yeah-it's definitely geared, IMO, somewhere between 30-80 for ideal challenge. I'm way too high level for it to make a real difference. I might use my second account to make a fresh game for it so I can see the one-shot insanity firsthand(no way I'm deleting my main game. Did I mention the game's biggest flaw, IMO, is one save game per account? I did do some quick adjustments to my guys-I went for a sort of 'Stone Giant' pale, black haired look for my main and 'Storm Giant' purple look for his pawn bro. I have too much fun with the generator.)

I do, however, see SOME difference at least-I mean I...'take damage' at least, and I definitely see the stamina cost of the abilities shoot up. Still, though, it may prove to be more fun post-Eclipse(what I had always affectionately called post-game) when the cute fluffies start attacking me.

So the game has a speed run mode - that work off a fresh save? If so, are there any runs up anywhere from a new game? All the ones I've found were NG+ runs. Or is that the only way you can do it? The main story seems pretty short, but the side quests can be too long and involved.

I think a 100% speed run shouldn't have to include any escort quests. Or time sensitive ones unless you got some weird, perfect route down. I'd watch a speed run that did all quests minus the escorts, anyway. As long as it wasn't NG+. Kinda takes some of the entertainment away. It's like RE4 speed runs where people only seemed to do NG+ with the super weapons. That's boring to watch! It also doesn't take any skill!

What would even be the best setup for something like that?

The problem is, like, unless there's total consensus on what the annoying quests are, 100% is going to have to be every quest. Sure, run it for yourself and do it how you like, but you probably wouldn't be going for a real WR in that case. Also, the reason RE4 speed runs are NG+ is because it heavily reduces the luck factor in the game both in drops and in bosses, and luck in a 1 hour 40 minute run is not conducive to good speed running.

I think escorts could be left out since they aren't involved in any of the quest achievements and seriously gently caress the escorts in this game (except Ser Berne that dude kicks rear end).

Speed run mode, rather bizarrely, gives you all your items, abilities, and placed port crystals from your normal game, so the fastest way to speed run is to have port crystals at every mandatory location along with enough finger's makers for every mandatory fight. There doesn't seem to be a time limit for getting the rewards though, just a matter of beating the game without quitting.

If you look up the clear skies glitch there's a way to go into post game without the dirty filter over everything. I wouldn't recommend this to people who've never done the dragon fight before since it breaks it.

Starting a speed run with all your good items and quick-mark teleports everywhere is a supremely bitch way to go about thing.

I'm already picturing pawn convos for mind flayers.

"TENTACLES, Arisen!"
"Don't let them grab you!"
"Cut off it's tentacles!"
"It ill likes fire!"

I might also be one of those folks who actually likes the second half of the game's sky. I mean I prefer the 'gorgeous Gransys' of the main game, but we've taken to calling the post-game 'Post-Eclipse Gransys.' It has a really creepy and cool vibe to it.

The one thing that I'm noticing with DA SO far(of course they may leave stuff out) is that it does indeed all seem to be underground. I am really hoping for a bit of above-ground stuff on the island as well, just because their world designers/artists make such a pretty, pretty environment. If not, I'll live with being able to go back to Gransys proper and run around though(it doesn't seem to cut off the rest of Gransys, it just seems to open up the new island.)

I bought Dragon's Dogma when it first came out but never actually got around to playing it.

Now I'm seeing about the Dark Arisen stuff coming out. Does that add anything for low levels? Should I start up Dragon's Dogma now or wait until DA comes out?

You should at least start a game because Dark Arisen will give you extra stuff if you have DD - probably by checking for a save file.

If you like it wait for DA since it contains all of the original game plus new stuff.

Does that affect the lower level stuff or DA focused on higher levels only?

Also, if I have a save for DD, will that work in DA or will I have to recreate for DA?

I've been sitting here for 5 mins trying to think of a joke to make but I just realised the animators of Mass Effect already did it for me

That's actually an interesting question. I would presume, since the original game just has one save file per log-in, and Dark Arisen was originally pitched as an expansion pack, that you could use your original character, but I don't know if anyone has said as much.

Frankly, either way works for me. I would love to start a new character but I don't want to lose my Pawn.

Hypothetically you could search for and re-hire them every couple of levels as a secondary Pawn.

I am pretty sure I heard you can import your character and pawn and everything into this. I think they know due to the one save game thing that people might be attached to their mains and pawns and won't like to be forced to restart. I don't know however what exactly the new island in DA is actually 'tuned' for level-wise.
