I can't really get mad at seeing these early game projects, especially since that's about where one of my friends is right now in learning that trade. I think the Ouya is a disaster and waste of money but I can't get mad at these developers.

It's one thing to get the lovely practice games out of your system, especially if they at least make an attempt to be genuinely unique. It's another thing to say that you're saving the industry with your clone of a 15 year old FPS that's full of 'witty' 'biting' 'satire'.

As for the system itself? It is a physical product that will actually ship. Which may or may not burn your house down or be DOA.

Other than that we have none which could lead to a downfall for the Ouya. I would buy this console as soon as it came out if they said a good fps was coming out for it, or even a good zombie game. Most of the games right now that I see are all the same or worse than games you could go play for free on a windows 98. Fortunately, someone else is quick to show him the error of his ways. quote:- Offensive Combat Or will they? (they won't): quote:Actually, the Hawken devs have basically said they aren't going to develop for OUYA, and have said that they definitely have no plans to port Hawken over. It's the Hawken *publisher* who said they were going to support the OUYA.

To be fair to the guy it's 2 1/2 weeks of work on what is probably a pretty difficult sort of game to make. It's the loving Sistine Chapel compared to what we've seen on the Ouya so far. Once he starts implementing gameplay features and optimising the graphics code it might not actually be a giant pile of hot garbage. It's also just a lazy mech warrior clone so who gives a poo poo.

I'm not sure why I'd want to play a mech combat game in the style of the old 90s simulators with a gamepad. What's also weird about codezombie is that he has made a legitimately good game in Deadly Dungeons, or at least legitimately good for $0.99. I don't know why he waited for the OUYA to optimize it for widescreen, though. I'd totally pay another buck to upgrade it on my tablet.

I love how my buddy who has been messing with Unity for about a year or two has a discarded tech demo that blows away anything I've seen made for the OUYA. I told him he should port it there because he could easily become a top game and maybe make some money from it, but he rather just let it sit around then spend his time doing that.

Haha jesus christ, I thought the reason was gonna be "It's the sample game you idiot" but nope, even more ineptitude. You know what, I just had a thought. So Uhrman was originally a direct2drive executive or something, right? She abandoned that job to fulfil her dreams of "bringing good games back to the TV" (UGHHHH) with her loving lovely little console, but I don't think that was the actual motive. She probably saw that digital distribution is a license to print money if it's popular enough and decided to create her own store. It's a crowded market at the moment, right? Steam creates a lot of value and it's hard to beat. You can't compete with google or apple as well, so what do you do? You find a niche (android gaming with a controller) and build a store around filling that niche. It's just a vehicle for another digital distribution method so she can print buckets of cash. I don't think it actually will in reality, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's the entire impetus for the console existing in the first place.

Digital distribution is a profitable business when you don't have to worry about the overheads of making an entirely new console.

Wouldn't it just be great if they simply promoted the FUSOYA as a super gameboy equivalent for android games rather than this GREAT SAVIOR OF THE INDUSTRY? That's its best and most realistic use at this juncture, even if you ignore the amateur hour hardware design and business model.
