My only reservation to long focal lengths is in areas with high humidity. The haze is occasionally useful but I typically find it ugly.. my long lens gets a lot more use in Montana because the air is so wonderfully dry.

It was low on the horizon and pretty drat bright enough to light up the rock formations. I was actually going to do a time lapse of it dipping into the horizon but as soon as I had my set up ready it was gone. It was pitch black, cold and my dumb rear end forgot to remove a CPL (I was wondering why I was at ISO 12800 at 30" shutter to get some decent exposure). Here's a hastily made video of it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1slgEtDAAM

I tried to do the same thing at devil's rock last summer, yours turned out a whole lot better. But it was my first attempt at it so I'll file it under learning experience.

I met this guy today on location at a random garden in Kumamoto. http://www.davidburdeny.com/ Chatted for a bit and he was very friendly. Got home and checked his website out and don't want to even look at my photos from today anymore.

Dread Head posted:I think I like the colour version better, the black and white version looks a little flat. Interesting, do you think that is because of the angle of the house? Do you feel the same about this version where the house is on an angle?

Kujaroth posted:Interesting, do you think that is because of the angle of the house? I like both for different reasons. I liked the color version because of the contrast between the green of the tree and grass near the house versus everything else. I liked the black and white for the spacious feeling (especially without the clouds).
