Apparently that was a popular song a while back in Japan and they recorded an English version of it specially just for the game.

It's literally the worst thing about playing the Mystic Knight, it is really annoying considering the fighter uses their shield all proper-like. Also Mystic Knight shields are gigantic and usually clip through the back of your head.

I've read some of the latest posts in this thread and I'm a pretty huge fan of Dragon's Dogma to begin with. After I finish RE6 I was thinking of doing a DD LP, PS3 version, if nobody else had plans for it. I saw someone did. To contribute to the thread, I have a Lv.200 Pawn, Mage Medicant/Mitigator I think it was. All that matters for a Mage is that Medicant be the primary inclination so that they will heal you. If it's not, don't pick that mage. I picked Mitigator secondary so they would be willing to fight enemies, because Mages enchant themselves all the time and in my party I need people with ranged attacks as I play a Mystic Knight mostly.

My Mage Tewi is on my main PSN, Lunethex and if you need that just let me know. She has 3 stars for everything in the game: Travel, Bestiary, and Quest Knowledge. The only limit is her vocation. I also created my own party pretty much, with 2 support pawns for myself, which are a Sorceror and Strider and they too are Lv.200. Strider/Ranger pawns are so broken in this game because they can never be hit, they just roll out of the way and abuse the hell out of invincibility frames, and not only that, they're one of the few characters willing to grapple and climb large enemies. I've heard that if you have at least three people grappling a Griffin it won't be able to fly away but I never bother because the Sorceror, and myself with Great Cannon, always burn its wings enough that it can't fly. Hell it pretty much dies in a few seconds to begin with.

Be aware that traveling with high level pawns reduces EXP gained, but I'm not sure by how much. Also, I would be willing should I find the time to travel with your pawns and help them gain knowledge. I can also give you items like Ur-Dragon weapons so long as they're not for hybrid classes, because Pawn's can't be hybrids thus they're not even allowed to carry the items. I can only take one person though, as there's only one pawn I can be without and that's my Strider.

I'll look for that mage pawn. I usually like a good mage to have.

I actually find my Warrior pawn loves climbing on stuff. But he's a Scather/Challenger so essentially just runs ahead and plows everything in his path. I mean Warrior's totally one of the classes that's an underdog but I just like how he looks with his big weapons. He seems to love climbing on golems...or really anything, grappling it, tackling stuff, you name it. Arguably, I can't keep him OFF the drat metal golems, as the poor, singleminded soul just seems to love grappling poo poo to kill it. (I DO, however, notice that Ranger/Strider pawns that I hire do it much more often than other warriors I might hire if I like the appearance. Which is kinda odd, I don't have anything particularly weird about Kaeran, and he hasn't even spent too much time as a Strider or Ranger at all in his career, just a little bit for the Stamina boost.)

I think I may have kept him in Guts' wardrobe with the Thousandlimbs too long and he siphoned off some of Guts' 'kill everything' personality.

If you're low level you'll have to add me as a friend in order to get the pawn for free. If you want high level pawns you pay rift crystals for them and the scaling on that is absolutely dreadful. If it's even 5 levels higher than you are, you probably won't be able to afford it, and anything higher than that is just beyond anyone's reach if they aren't cheating, and even then we're talking millions. So if anybody wants my pawn, just feel free to add me on PSN but make sure the subject/message line at least says DD Pawn or something along the lines.

Oh, I've seen that in action. Yeah, it doesn't take long at all for the scaling to hit in. I usually take friends higher level pawns along or I just hire lower level ones I don't know for free.

That makes me mad, but not as mad as I might have been. Each time I came back to DD, I bought another slew of DLC, so it never felt like a huge amount, but as it stands now I think I own every piece of DLC that isn't pay-to-win. Considering DDDA encompasses the entirety of DD and is meant to replace it, in hindsight I wish that I'd just waited :(

I dislike J-pop a whole lot and I like the intro song to Dragon's Dogma. I mainly like it because it break typical fantasy tropes. For menu music you either get some somber piece or some roaring "epic" orchestral piece. So when that piano gives way to twany guitar, it becomes awesome and encapsulates the game pretty much perfectly. It's the perfect D&D adventure that betrays your expectations. Plus the lyrics are kind of relevant to the story of the game.

I think it's always been the case that it comes out of no where in a genre that is usually scored by yet another Jeremy Soule knockoff. And honestly Japanese stuff converted to English tends to lead to some pretty funny stuff if you try to listen to the lyrics.

This game really does remind me of a D&D campaign with friends. It's even more uncanny because our local bard sings old 80s heavy metal songs (inspired, of course, by Counter Monkeys) and I myself like to slip into a very bad "Ye Olde English" whenever things get bizarre or ridiculous.

Seriously, this game is basically Japanese D&D and it's wonderful because of it. The butt-rock intro is just part of the package, along with the faux "ye olde English."

It reminds me of what one goon said about the TV series Burn Notice--it's massively cheesy, but it's delicious cheese.
