I'm not even sure how much that would help - I read some of the AARs and I understand the system, but handling division sized units in tiny provinces with hour long turns just burns me out on micromanagement after an hour or so, and I don't think the AI can handle Barbarossa on the German side with historical forces. I still can have fun with Case Yellow from both sides because it's small scale enough that the micro doesn't destroy me, but I wish they would just make provinces 4X bigger and use corps sized units (which would also make it feel like a strategy game instead of a giant operational exercise).

I'm not sure whether it's even offensive or what, it's just so painfully awkward more than anything else. Also I'm hoping the one guy who asked for a dev diary on social movements in EvW receives an answer other than "there aren't any"

Yeah I'm not hoping for like a complete cultural history simulation, I just want some sort of modelling of internal dissent that's more detailed than "you have x% dissent, you take y penalties" or "you have x% revolt risk and must randomly slaughter large amounts of your citizens as a result".

The era that contained Simone de Beauvoir, the mass transition of women into the industrial workforce in both the capitalist and communist blocs, birth control, abortion, massive changes to popular notions of sexuality. Yes, having a focus on women is a very funny joke! No one would actually assume that women would naturally be a major part of the story of the latter half of the twentieth century, right? Just put pictures of Margaret Thatcher, Indira Ghandi, and Golda Mier into the leaders lists and call it a day re: women, right guys?

You know if they just stuck to power politics and a military system abstact enough to simulate proxy wars, EvW would rule. Paradox games are at their best when history roes off the rails, and nothing can cause that to happen as awesomely as nuclear warfare. But this combined with all the grognardy poo poo has this from a possible byy to me ignoring it entirely.

There's the idea (that Simone de Beauvoir opposed) that it's not just men are one category, women are another, it's that masculine is the default and feminine is inherently a divergent, abnormal variety. The Second Sex is an interesting read. Also, EvW is totally off my "potential purchase" radar.
