Hoops posted:My friend's been doing that job (not Opta) for a living for a few months now, watches a ton of games from all over the world. I asked him recently if he had gained any insight about football from doing in-depth analysis on so many games all the time. He just shrugged. I imagine that he'd be so occupied keeping up with the game (drawing passes, identifying players, etc) that it'd be impossible to learn much. Something about not being able to see the forest for the trees.

I imagine Opta has some backroom of analysis goons that actually do gain some insight into the game. The click-a-button grunt probably hate their job.

Is it Juventus who have that death-trap body of water near their training ground that a few people have died in?

That would destroy my enjoyment of football. I can spend a Sunday watching football for 12 hours straight starting at 5AM and it's an awesome day, but if that was my work day I would hate it in no time. I think it's kinda like how people think being a game tester is a dream job when in reality it's tedious and lame.

I hope Torres wears that thing for a while and keeps scoring because I find the idea of him reviving his reputation as a masked, goal-scoring alter-ego quite amusing.

They were rubber bullets. It was ugly. But that's South American football for you. People might remember a similar altercation between players and police at the last Copa Sudamerica. Although this one was certainly more severe and violent.

The incident between Tigre and Sao Paolo? well that didn't happen on camera so we really couldn't know, the Tigre players said they were attacked by the police in the dressing room and the police said it was the other way around. They really should do something about matches between Brazilian and Argentinian teams.
