I'm new to this whole "flash" thing, and this particular one doesn't do TTL, so, still figuring out the settings. Some of my shots didn't turn out to be total rear end.

drat son, that's a serious setup. I just open the door and kick our cats outside.. they seem to have zero interest in jumping off (probably because the balcony is 20 feet above the ground and they start bawling like babies if I get them too close to the edge). I never even considered putting up mesh to prevent escapes.

It's just one of those transparent nets I hooked up to washers that sit on the rails that the window modules ride on otherwise. I also have a cat flap installed on the door to the balcony from earlier so she can come and go as she pleases. Easy setup to take down and pack into a little box. I'm particular about the net as she did fall once and we're on the 4th floor, she made it without any serious injury then fortunately (checked out at vet) but we've been extra careful since.

quote:Studies done on cats that have fallen from 2 to 32 stories, and still alive when brought to a veterinarian clinic, show that the overall survival rate is 90 percent of those treated. In a study performed in 1987 it was reported that cats who fall from less than six stories, and are still alive, have greater injuries than cats who fall from higher than six stories. It has been proposed that this might happen because cats reach terminal velocity after righting themselves (see below) at about five stories, and after this point they relax, leading to less severe injuries in cats who have fallen from six or more stories.
