Neo Helbeast posted:Netflix only has up to the end of season 2 on Instant; I don't know why they don't have seasons 3 and 4 up. For the longest time, Seasons 1 and 2 were in legal limbo and only 3 and 4 were available, so it's funny to see it the other way around. If I had to guess, maybe they staggered the releases in order to not cannibalize DVD sales? I'd say Netflix always has weird rights and contract issues, but in this case Shout Factory got the rights to the full series. VV Neo Helbeast posted:So more 90s cartoon shows: Mummies Alive! is always the very first thing I think of when I think of the 90s. It's that pitch perfect sort of rad 90s commercialism designed by distilling leftover essence of Transformers and Power Rangers and then throwing whatever at the wall and hoping it stuck.

What I remember most about Dunkaroos is that they always had a problem where there is only enough frosting for three of the six cookies in the tray. Sort of like how Lunchables never have an even ratio of crackers to slices of cheese and meat.

QuickbreathFinisher posted:What a great loving show. All the timely 90s grunge and college rock got changed to generic guitar parts when it started getting syndicated, which lessened the awesome campiness, but it's still a goddamn amazing show that you should love real hard. There's a reason for that. MTV was able to use whatever music they wanted to for Daria and other shows because they were also showing the music videos on their channel. When it was showing on other channels like Noggin and when the DVD boxset finally got released, all of that music was removed because the rights to all of the music couldn't be secured.

I don't know if they were a "thing" or if mom just picked them up at a dollar store because she thought they were pretty or what. You'd peel off the back, press the letter down onto whatever you wanted to monogram (your school binder, presumably), then scratch at it until it transferred over. Assuming you didn't run out of the letters you actually needed before you were done, they'd flake off within a week. I never wanted to "waste" them. I think I finally threw them out 15 years later when I found them in a box...

I didn't watch Nickelodeon very much when I was younger, so I never really saw Ren & Stimpy. However, I did see Cartoon Network's own entry into the pantheon of somewhat "dodgy" cartoons:

And yes, it's Cow and Chicken. While it was definitely true for the "edgy" cartoons, it's pretty surprising to go back and see what got past the censors in the 90's for a lot of Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network programming even for shows that didn't market themselves on parental outrage.

Inspired by what I just read about "The Way Things Work", I dug out my old CD version of it and tried to run it, but it sadly doesn't like Win7 x64. Have to try to find a way to work around it for extreme 90s pleasure. e: Got around it by using the Win XP Mode. Didn't even think about that. What is it with the 90s obsession for slime and grossout humor? I mean, look at Nickelodeon, it had shows like Double Dare that were all about sliming people and getting them to dig through stuff that looked like boogers and earwax.

Nickelodeon pushed the limits a little to see what they could get away with because it just really hadn't been tried yet.
