She just wanted to give Kat a self-esteem boost and with her somewhat terrible social skills thought this was a good way to do it, but Kat will find out and there will be horrible misunderstandings and things will go terribly wrong Really though I would have thought a robot, but like said that might be a bit too obvious.

Well if it isn't a robot, it might be somebody who needs help from a discreet robot to write a letter. Both Paz and Gamma don't speak english as their first language so it could be either of them. Or even a certain armless bird-boy, although I think that plot thread was wrapped up permanently.

There's only a handful of characters that aren't romantically involved with someone. Annie, Kat (until now, I guess), Paz, Matt. Red and Blue. Reynardine? Other than minor robots or some unknown student there's not a lot of options out there.

According to most detective stories the person the reader isn't supposed to suspect is the person who probably committed or helped commit a crime. By that logic he'd be in the running for conspiring to steal Kat's heart.
