Best use of a vague pronoun that I've seen a while. 10/10 points.

Why show anything in book 4? Because we'll buy it, that's why.

Was kinda hoping the answer would be something like "A detailed reading of AFfC ADwD reveals inconsistencies that show Ramsay's letter could only have been written before the battle. Harrumph."

I dunno, they've been getting worked over by the blizzard pretty hard, and it seemed like even assuming they had Manderly they were going to be outnumbered

GRRM likes his history.

We know Bolton has left to meet Stannis on the field. They'll fight to a stalemate or a slow Bolton victory, Stannis' northmen reinforcements arrive, Ramsey's army retreat to regroup, ice breaks and they drown.

Reading this read has made me glad that I gave up on GURM halfway through A Feast for Neeps. I wonder when the mainstream readers and critics will call his bluff and realize the series is not about some great plot unraveling, but a personal outlet for dick-flaying and dog-loving fantasies.

It's more like this is still ASOIAF, so the battle will likely manage to kill Stannis, along with the important Boltons, Karstarks and Manderlys. Then we can wait a whole book before anything else happens in the North.

I don't think that many have realized it yet, but when death comes nearer he will be more open about it. Just like his master Robert Jordan, whose last book was filled with barely legal lesbian spanking.

How the gently caress does Ramasy know about Lightbringer then? Or why would ask John to hand over fake Ayara?

Then again why would Roose let him write that dumbass letter? How the gently caress would everything go so well when everyone in the castle wants to kill each other and Stannis knows what Bolton's plan is?

What is most likely I think is that Ramsay tortured Mance. Mance told him about Lightbringer and that the Plan was to bring "Arya" to Jon Snow. Stannis being killed is just a lie. The battle didn't happen yet. Roose couldn't stop Ramsay from writing the Letter because everything in Winterfell goes to poo poo.

Well, Robb really isn't winning that many battles. There's the handful of engagements around Riverrun some time ago, and then his campaign in the west around the crag, but I don't know that that really happened in the show.

If we look at our real history, even winning in two big battles is a pretty major accomplishment. Large battles were exceedingly rare because they were so damned risky.

I always took it that the Blackfish was the one who was behind the campaign's success, so he let the king be the face of it while he was doing most of the planning. I think he'll be back as a character, especially now that they introduced him into the show.

They took Greywater Watch from the Reed clan and lost the initiative to irregular tactics. Now they're hosed and without any supplies or medicine. Plus there's the flux, which would gently caress up any army that stayed in place too long.
