Although the gold selling companies pretty much all just sell you a certificate entitling you to get gold from their warehouse somewhere, so you don't even actually get the shiny metal to try to barter with. All the downsides of cash with all the costs of gold!

Listened to Hannity for a few minutes while I was outside wrenching on my bike and it seems he's "just asking questions" about the apparent deportation order for the Saudi national. This is going to be the new thing, isn't it. Obama ordering him to be deported to protect and conceal the real culprit while pinning it on a homegrown source. That's where this will all be going.

Apparently Rubio was on Levin yesterday and then Levin posted on his facebook page today that he doesn't support Rubio's plan. So much for GOP outreach.

Hannity was talking to a lieutenant governor from Texas about the Waco explosion and the guy said that Obama called this morning and talked to Rick Perry and offered to do some sort of emergency declaration which the man said was "very helpful" and without missing a beat Hannity just said "yep, there are a lot of good people in Texas" and ended the call. The conspiracy theory was that Saudi nationals and the Bin Laden family were ferried out while flights were still grounded and before the FBI could question them, when they actually left shortly after flights started up again and were already cleared to leave by then. I don't think any members of the Bin Laden's relatives were involved, but I'm not 100%.

Looks like the far right will be pushing to end immigration reform based around the fact that the Boston Marathon bombers legally immigrated here (as children, I believe). Here's Greg Sargent's writeup of a few statements. I don't think young Hispanics who immigrated as children will take to being compared to Eastern European terrorists but okay, if you think that'll work, go ahead.

Children who immigrated 10 years ago and were naturalized US citizens just go to show why we can't create a path to citizenship or give amnesty to college students who were illegally brought here by their parents. This isn't related to the Marathon ranting going on today (and frankly I could go without hearing it too, god it must be awful today) but I wanted to ask you guys where a certain insane thing Sean Hannity always says about Democrats came from. First he was saying something like "they say Republicans want dirty air, dirty water and to throw Grandma off the cliff, let kids with Autism and Down's Syndrome fend for themselves..." which is of course a big group of out-of-context misquotes....but lately his "Grandma" line has evolved into "and they say we want to punch, stab, kick, beat Grandma with a baseball bat before slicing her throat and throwing her off the cliff.." What in the everloving gently caress is wrong with this guy? I'm not usually the squeamish type but isn't he worried just a little what his own kids might think hearing him spread such obvious false hatred and vitriolic bile such as this? This is weird to me because, for as often as I have subjected myself to his "show" over the years, this is as graphic as I have ever heard him get. Does anyone have a line on this one and what the original "thing that Obama or another famous Democrat said" that he even gets this from is?
