My experience is exactly the opposite, but I spent all my time in Air Defense Artillery and now Signal, which are the red-headed step children of the Army. Nearly everyone above the rank of E-3 in my current unit has a bachelors degree or higher, and many of them are in soft sciences like Sociology or areas like Primary Education. I was cavalry the whole time I was in and I had units where racism was given a wink and a nod and units where it was all dogwhistles and codewords because the command would tear you up for saying that poo poo out loud in front of people. Luckily my last unit was of the last sort, although it's amazing to see who is and isn't racist as they ETS (finish their contract and become a civilian) on Facebook. The day after they ETS it all comes out in a big flood of lovely Obama macros and misspelled rants about welfare leeches and Muslims.

If you have people in your life that keep posting smugly about how backwards, bad or worthless muslims are in general, create a list of some of the muslim achievements, inventions and advances they have made throughout history and ask them how they feel about that. Science, applications, trade, culture, warfare, art, muslims have contributed a whole lot to mankind. edit: Bonus points for the alphabet and a ton of english words rooted in arabic words.

^^^ Kinda. Contrary to popular belief Arabic uses different numbers than we do. Some of them are clearly inspired. 1 and 9 are obvious. 2 and 3 are turned sideways but for the most part they don't look at all like the numbers the west uses http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindu%E2%80%93Arabic_numeral_system Or basically all of modern mathematics like Algebra. Kind of weird for you to be spammed with it. Deciphering more of it will be easier if you post either a link or a higher-resolution image.
