re: quimdung, gamedog, kwasimodick, etc. Holy gently caress do I appreciate quimdung. His games are terrible and unfocused, but they're just so gd refreshing. I don't know how he makes so much poo poo, but give him some time, maybe he'll get a bit more refined, and just maybe he'll turn into something like cactus. note: I am not quimdung. edit: was hoping this wasn't going to be a top post. Oops. Um... warping war pig is at least a neat browser game, and I wish he would port it over from iOS to Android.

I think the first three stages are random: the ice skeleton, the hoppy fire guy and the lightning wizard. Level 4 is always the vagina-head boss and level 5 is the two-headed dragon, then it repeats. To beat the wizard you just have to hit him while he's doing his ranged attacks and move before he does the lightning. My guy is pretty much unstoppable at this point. Here's the boss strategies:

You can beat the entire game on auto battle, even boss fights. Grinsia is basically the only one that has any polish. The others vary but almost all of them have the world's most frustrating dungeon layouts. I had to draw maps connecting the doors and paths to find my way through them.

Here's my stats: I don't want to act like I'm good at this game, because I can't past what, 6, but if you tap and hold like you're casting magic, it blocks all damage coming at you from the front (at least, I only do it for front attacks). For every single boss I can just sit there and block until right after their big spam attack and then release to throw out magic and tap tap tap for a few seconds until it's going to come again. The only time that doesn't work is the "mustard wizard" as you call it because block doesn't stop the teleport lightning. edit: VVVVV I swear I've been trying that and he casts the lightning no matter where I am. I noticed that Epic Pirate Story, that Kairosoft clone that a lot of people were excited for based on its spritework and pirate theme, came out quietly a few days ago. The lite version appears to be the full version with an interstitial "maybe you could give us money if you like it?" screen. Unfortunately the game itself is hideously boring. It plays a lot like a dumbed down Dungeon Village crossed with Kairorobotica. The town building is all Dungeon Village with only a half-dozen buildings to build that you can't interact with at all. The combat plays like Kairorobotica where the only strategy involved is where your pirates stand and whether you bothered to equip the best gear. There's very little to manage in the game, much less micromanage like in any Kairosoft game but if you're really hard up give it a try I guess.

Last night in Bit Dungeon I wondered why the extra life heart is displayed like an item, so I started tapping it. It burned up and teleported me to the "spirit world." The spirit world is another dungeon that's just filled with ghosts and has a new boss at the end who drops a blue item.

I'm so glad they added these assist points.

I'm new to Android (coming from iOS) and I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but a lot of games are extremely small on the HTC One (1080p @ 4.7"). For example, the buttons in Angry Birds are really tiny and it seems like it thinks I have a 7" tablet or something perhaps because of the resolution? The same problem seems to exist in other games too. Is there a way to fix this from the OS? I've heard of "DPI Changer" and other apps that sound promising...

The problem is Android has ranges of densities that it supports. The highest density starts at 320ppi and your device (the highest ppi consumer electronics device ever) is almost 50% higher than that. If you want to muck around with what dpi your operating system reports to applications, you'll have to root, but that's a whole different can of worms. I'm not even sure if that would fix the problem, as your device is already xhdpi. The problem is Android and I suspect the solution is "Android needs to make a new class called uhdpi and developers have to support it." Asking in the phone thread might get you better answers.

My only problem with Ninja Village is that I've unified Japan, I've pretty much cleared all the bandits with the exception of the Bunny Clan who I just cannot beat. I've gotten cannons, marukomes, enokidas, all types of mounts, I've leveled pretty much everyone to 30, but they have 110 Infantry, which isnt an issue, bu t 595 Cavalry and I just can't beat them. I'm level 38 with the Emperor training grounds, so I have a lot of villagers in battle, but drat, I just can't do it. The big issue seems to be that you can really back yourself into a corner like this since gangs and clans get stronger as you beat others, so really you need to kill the strongest clans first so they don't get so big you can't. So if anyone happens to have any advice on how to get past them so I can be 100%, that would be tits

I'm normally the type who defends IAP, but for some reason this one really sticks in my craw. If they'd have gone free to play and done this kind of thing, I could understand it, but I'm peeved for some reason. Bloons 5 does the same kind of thing, but that one didn't bug me so much.

I checked out House of the Dead: Overkill - The Lost Reels which came out today because I loved the original Overkill on the Wii. So far it seems pretty fun and both looks great and runs smoothly on my Gnex. They've also done a good job of translating the grindhouse presentation over for this version. There's an odd choice in using a "joypad to aim reticle" control option instead of the more obvious tap to shoot but I found it not as painful as I expected it to be. Strangely enough tap to shoot does become unlockable once you beat the game. Unfortunately its a little expensive at $5 for two episodes, and the third episode (set in a zombie strip club) is another 2 bucks on top of that. There's still quite a bit of content with what you get though. mrkillboy fucked around with this message at 00:19 on Apr 26, 2013 |

Despite being bogged down with all the freemium crap it's kind of fun. There's dual morality meter which lets you do quests in different ways, quests are unlocked by buying lots of clothes and accessories, your college roommate is a werebear and you can go on dates. It is annoying that only a few quests are available at one time and you have wait for the time to finish a lot though.

I've been playing Gameloft's latest cashgrab Iron Man 3. It's actually a fairly decent game. It's a hybrid endless runner/shooter that reminds me a bit of After Burner Climax. It controls well both with touch and accelerometer and the game looks spectacular. Of course, the game has IAPs but at first they don't seem to be too bad since its mainly used to buy in game currency to unlock new Iron Man suits earlier, which you can do normally by grinding XP. However, then there's also poo poo like paying gems to speed up upgrades and even repairs to your suit after each game over which just rubs me the wrong way. The game is also loving huge (800MB) to install and Tony Stark's voice actor sounds more like a teenage Peter Parker than an approximation of Robert Downey Jr. But overall, its kinda fun, its free and somewhat better than I expected.
