I wish I could find it on YouTube, but there was an insane interview with Gallagher on the Howard Stern show a few years ago. He talked about how he was a brilliant physicist, how comedians who had a stool and water bottle on stage were hacky prop comics, and his epic plans to build a chain of indoor family reunion camps. It wasn't an outrageous interview the way you'd think it would be, it was just sad and weird and very interesting. The stuff about his horrible relationship with his family just made me feel bad for him.

While I'm sure he's just an idiot and wasn't approaching it this way, that is an interesting way to look at the stool + water bottle setup that comedians will have for a lot of longer sets.

It was kind of an interesting take in how bizarre it was. He basically said it was a crutch and a prop in the sense that it was weak and unprofessional for a comedian to have to take in the middle of their set. A comedian shouldn't have time to take a drink when they should be makin' with the yuks. I've seen some comedians use the stool as a convenient way to keep their set list or whatever handy, but yeah, the man didn't make a ton of sense.

gently caress. Now I gotta see if I've got that interview recorded anywhere. I'll be sure to post it if I find it. Fascinating stuff.

A lot of respect for Serafinowicz for calling out racism where he saw it, the hosts were just trying to brush it off the stage. Also Gallagher is against the duel-split experiment. Pick a side light, wave or particle!

Not the one you're looking for, but he's way crazier in this Opie and Anthony segment where they discuss conspiracy theories and his inventions.
  • Gallagher talks about owning the rights to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
  • Gallagher says he has a patent on a toilet that China is building for him
  • Gallagher talks about his patent for new slot machine software
  • Gallagher talks about a shower that shuts off when you step away from it
  • Gallagher talks about a hat for blind people that senses light and gives a little zap when light is encountered
  • Gallagher talks about a solar powered Coke machine

I think he has a degree in Physical Chemistry too? Maybe I'm misremembering that.

He honestly seems less than functional - he can't interact properly with people. This has to be a newish development for him, right? I can't imagine he was like this when he was successful and competent. (Because even if you don't like him, he was at least competent, which he apparently no longer is.)

Maybe one day, he'll go on meds, and then do an episode of the mental illness happy hour.

Hard to say, because he pretty quickly segued from "it can't be both! pick a side!" to something about Obama being a "halfrican" (his words). So that pretty much put an end to the photon discussion.

That Gallagher episode of Probably Science was about as nutso as I imagined it would be. Even though he sounded crazy on WTF, I cut him a little slack because Marc did ambush him in an angry Air America way in the manner he avoided when say, Patrice O'Neal spoke about women. But when he's going on about Mexicans, he just sounds like a crazy man on the sidewalk. He could be making lots of money on Fox News if he was a little more stable.

To be fair to the now adorned in purple corpse of Patrice O'Neal, he had a rather negative experience with a woman that landed him in prison for some time*. So he has some basis to be upset with regards to the gender. Whereas Gallagher is just plain ol' white racist in a completely, 100% undefensible way that should literally have him put up against a wall and shot for being a detriment to humanity. If he'd been attacked by a Latino gang and nearly killed, I could MAYBE have the tiniest amount of sympathy for him, as I do Patrice O'Neal.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2q6ZCPuiFs Patrice was falsely accused of raping a gal and was put away for a period. He literally could've been sent away for decades if not for some special, thankfully, circumstances that ended up going his way as they don't for an innumerable amount of black males in our country. While misogyny is never right, he at least has SOME justification for his level of it after that experience. Indefensible, but understandable in this one specific case. Unlike racists like loving Gallagher, who should have his four limbs successively put through the Sledge-o-Matic.

Walking the Room released part of their live show from Bridgetown. They had three guests (Paul Gilmartin, Todd Glass, and Gallagher) and the episode in the feed just has Paul Gilmartin and Gallagher.

Oh man, that is some uncomfortable listening, but they manage to keep the entire thing from falling off the rails a couple of times. Gallagher is... well, he kinda speaks for himself when he says that he sold his house because after four heart attacks "houses are for people with a future."

Looks like Reality Show Show inadvertently got someone fired. According to the latest Bone Zone (which still has its funny moments btw, but a little heavy on phone calling) Sean O'Connor was fired from the Shaq internet show ("Upload with Shaq" I think?) after the network found out he told a story on RSS about Shaq having a fight with his girlfriend during shooting. You can hear the episode here.

Basically, he violated an NDA by telling the story. It still sucks for him and RSS. Half the fun of the show is Hayes and Sean getting random guests to either discuss how dumb reality shows are, or for the guest to demonstrate the stupidity first-hand.

Basically it sucks and I hope it doesn't affect RSS/Earwolf bookings.

E: VV Oh, well that's good to hear then. Thanks VV

Does anyone else listen to The Glory Hole and it's network's other assorted podcasts? I recently got into it and Mad Scientist Party Hour, they're both pretty fun in the kinda 'turn your brain off and listen to some dudes talk about boners and poop' way, and they seem to dance along the line between 'funny bros' and 'dipshits' well enough to avoid the normal shock-jock kinda pitfalls.

Are any other podcasts on that network good?

The latest, live episode of You Made It Weird is something special.

Moshe Kasher: Speaking of sad and fun, have you guys ever seen the video of the dad from Alf sucking dick for crack on the internet?
Morgan Murphy: How do you know he was sucking dick for crack and not just sucking dick?
Moshe Kasher: Because he sucks dick and THEN he smokes crack.
[a minute later]
David Angelo: The worst is when you suck crack for dick!

Petey Pants: You dated Marc Maron. How was that?
Morgan Murphy: Oh, it was a real experience. And fun. And I learned a lot.
Moshe Kasher: Did he, at the end of every time you hosed go: "So, we good?".

Also, the entire time that Dom Irrera is on stage.
