The funniest thing about those Cowboy Bebop posters is that they all try their hardest to pretend the show doesn't have a wacky superintelligent dog and a cartoonish teen superhacker. No guys, it's totally a serious show about serious bounty hunters, shut up. If they made a live action version it would be totally badass!!

Stephen Dorff was great in Blade. Dane Cook was great in that one Louie episode but then again no one is bad on that show so he doesn't get a pass for that.

However, if it were to be remade by an American studio, what do you think would be the first thing(s) to go?

Probably the hyper-intelligent dog and androgynous, spaghetti-armed, adolescent hacker.

Jet or Spike?

I meant Spike. Blah I can't even fantasy cast properly.

John Cusack needs to stop making movies because he just isn't getting good roles anymore. He's also acting his rear end off, in like eight or nine roles. Someone needs to just make a TV series fit for him. Maybe where he's a music producer struggling with relationships. Like Paul Rudd's role in This is 40 only good.

I think he can hear you, Ray.
Cusack is just stuck in DTV crap now, which seemed to happen all of a sudden. Though to be fair I don't think he's given a good performance in years. Had he quit after the double-bill of Grosse Pointe Blank and High Fidelity then he would've had a pretty awesome film career.

They probably would have gotten complaints if they'd tried to use that as the DVD/vhs cover, or hung it up in a theater. The version they used for the home video release is slightly less risque, but also doesn't convey the general theme of the movie very well.

And here are a few from the Appleseed ova, which wins the award for most unecessary swearing in an anime award.

Now that I've seen Perfect Blue, I can really appreciate how loving subtle the advertising for it was. Take note, minimalist poster makers. Hiding the meaning of your poster is infinitely more effective than making stupid in-jokes.

Feel free to tell me I'm way off base here, because it's quite likely, but while I love a lot about this it just seems so muted and drab compared to the scene in the film. The coloring really doesn't suit the interesting line work and composition. I'm no colorist, but punching up the vibrance and giving the neon and light sources a glow feels like it really helps.

Obviously it's just a quickie mockup, but I think it gets the idea across.

I have it and the rain is done in silver metallic inks and there was also a glow in the dark version which makes it pop a bit more.

Like the guy below you said, the silver metallic rain definitely adds to the picture, which is absent in the promo pic that I posted. Here's an actual pic, which gives you an idea of what it's like in person.

While it isn't as vibrant as your modified pic, it's better than the promo pic. However, I don't know how well one could achieve the neon glow in screenprints (though as SMG has pointed out, there's vastly more artistic wiggle-room than I thought), which would be an effect that is admittedly more representative of the actual scene, so I'll have to defer to those better informed. It works well enough for me. The "tears in rain" print also has metallic ink rain, and they're pretty nice companion pieces.
