So Elona+ for some reason is going nuts on me. Whenever I start the game the controls get stuck (as if the "b" button is pressed or something) My controls are extra sensitive as well so on the main menu, pressing down causes me to skip over all the options extra fast. Sorry if my explanations suck. Hopefully I'm making sense. Anyone know what can cause this? *edit* Okay, it appears the game thinks the "g" key is constantly pressed down. The hell? Game was working fine yesterday. Red Mundus fucked around with this message at 01:45 on May 6, 2013 |

Whenever I start the game the controls get stuck (as if the "b" button is pressed or something) The same thing happened to me, except with the up and right arrow keys. I recognized pretty fast that it was probably a problem with a stuck key, but I usually use the numpad to move around, so it took me a while to realize what was going wrong. I even tested if any key was stuck down in notepad, but nothing was; the game only fixed itself when I pressed the up and right arrow keys while in game. Pressing them outside of the game or even in menus didn't fix it, for some odd reason. Stelas posted:e: Is it worth sticking up an IRC channel for this? It's not like the chat program's much good outside of amusing deaths. I'll kick up #elona on synirc or something, bonus points if someone works out an API to feed deathchat through to it. I'd be up for this, and I'd probably add it to my IRC client's autojoin list. Have you already made the channel?

Someone earlier in the thread posted their modified map image that gets rid of all the crappy faded noise effect. My map looks like this: (I still can't find it ) Also here is my bald green baby and the white kitten that lives in my home and is super cute, gently caress Mia's quest. Related note, is there any way to make the pixels bigger in this drat game? Increasing or decreasing the resolution just changes the window size. I swear that when I last played vanilla Elona, everything was twice the size. Maybe it's just my monitor...

There's an option in Screen + Sound: PCC Show. Turn it to full-size and you should have a better time of things, I think? I'm using a bunch of old custom graphics from last version, though, so I might have overwritten a lot of the standard ones.

When you're comparing to the world map on the the wiki, ignore grass/trees - those changed a bunch in Elona+. Mountains are still pretty good.

I wish the networking had more features, seeing death messages is cool, but I can't even imagine how crazy it'd get if it had dark souls style invasions/covenants, of course you'd have to work around it being turn based. Maybe just even an in-game chat with mmo style channels so we could have a goon group. SO MUCH POTENTIAL.

The game in general has so much potential. If you've ever examined ...gently caress, what it is is escaping me now, but there is something that displays the hierarchy of every civilian in the town. Or, it was going to. It was never implemented. It's just an empty list. There's all sorts of things like that in the game. There was even an entire unfinished continent, that only now, with Elona+, is being filled in. And that's only a small fraction of the world that Noa planned.

So I suffered an attack of stupidity and made a Golem Warrior that I'm playing as an armoured punch elemental. As expected, punching things sucks total poo poo in the early game, but what I didn't realize was that Golems are horribly loving slow. Even stacking a bunch of pieces of glass armour didn't help that much; a lot of enemies are still fast enough to dance around annoyingly shooting at me (public performers!! ). I did find some neat gear though and I'm absurdly rich due to moongate raiding, but I just feel like this was a really bad idea for a character. Maybe I'll take another crack at making a Gunner and use moongate riches to buy a ludicrous super cannon from a random map merchant or something.

Learn Riding, buy a horse in Yowyn, and profit! Riding is neat, it takes the speed of your mount-type ally, reduces it some based on your riding skill, then uses that for your speed instead of your own speed. As long as you're mounted, you could have 1 speed, and it wouldn't matter. If your mount dies you go back to being slow until you resurrect it, of course. Even when you're super low skill (it trains really quickly!) you'll almost certainly be going at "normal" speed while mounted. When you can buy better mounts, they get speedier, too! And you can put speed equipment on your mount - by default I think horses just have 2 'leg' slots for shoes/boots. You just hit 'a' to bring up the skill menu, then target your mount while they're adjacent to you.

I was playing around as a pianist, and I've generally noticed that whenever I dropped my piano to play, and whenever I was done with the party time missions. It loving disappeared. Also the wells keep impregnating my team. Is it viable to level up traveling, so that I can just walk around, and level everything up that way? Or is just getting traveling enough? Carrying a grand piano around to busk with is as stupid as it looks and sounds like. There's a six stone horn you can play from your inventory in the graveyard just east of Lumiest that will hopefully tide you over till you get a harmonica from a level 20+ general goods vendor. Don't lose the loving horn though. quote:Is it viable to level up traveling, so that I can just walk around, and level everything up that way? Or is just getting traveling enough? Apparently yes but it would be slower than actually training your skills the right way. After a dozen or so hours played and a lot of hiking, travelling has bumped the skills I don't actively train to 12-14 which is loving AMAZING if you ever had to put up with vanilla. Which doesn't exist anymore as far as I am concerned. However you're still gonna need piles and piles of plat or high level potions. Or both. Luckily all the mission types are actually loving doable now and the plat flows like wine at a Roman party, and there's the new god which gets you 10 per month and whatever you can get the goose to poo poo out, once you've obtained your second gift. For those of you who never played vanilla, the easiest gardening, hunting, and party quests required an absolute minimum skill of 15 or so. The one $ hunting quests would instantly own a new character, and you wouldn't even get CLOSE to the laughable goals of the simplest gardening/party quests. So you were literally limited to ONLY the fetch quests and maybe some escorts to get the hundreds of plat you need for starting skills and to start grinding the ones you have. Grinding performer was loving awful. Instead now I'm pretty much just leaving it alone except for pumping some plat in now and then, and it's SIXTEEN already HOLY poo poo. One thing pisses me off about the new version. I'm grinding up level 3 with the god of maniacal laughter and rocks and poo poo and my GOD DAMNED platina bell keeps loving NINJAING my god damned JUNK STONES, gently caress. Then when I try to trade for them it says, 'that's mine' NO gently caress YOU IT BELONGS TO GOD. Also I am your literal owner. I have dominated your mind and loving spirit. GIMME STONE.

What I meant to say was that if it's worth dumping plat into traveling. I have 17 Plats already, and I want to see if it's worth dumping them all so that I can get 200% traveling potential so that I can level it passively, and thus get more gains from it. I mean, my little girls seem to be getting a poo poo ton of XP from traveling alone. Also I carried it around because it had 200 quality instead of the 70 quality that the harmonica has.

You don't. They'll blow it on training next time you're in a town.

They use money to train their potentials, so the answer as I understand it is if they've picked it up, it's gone. Use a tamer's whip and they won't pick things up of their own accord.
