I am saying it is not actually an infinite, the dummy is set to not block at all. The combo counter continuing to go up despite it not being an actual combo is a glitch. The combo actually does not work at all and you can 100% block. You can tell because the combo counter starts flashing like the combo is done, but keeps going up.

This was discovered over a year ago and Desk even made videos about it and a blog post here:

Just kinda building on this, but is there any specific timing on the cr.H after judgement cut? seems like the timing is pretty tight and it either doesn't come out or it does but I screw up the spiral sword motion. I figured the cr.H is the only factor for lunar phase not completely hitting after activating swords and I don't get the ground bounce to continue the combo.

You should always get the ground bounce from lunar phase unless you've used up the ground bounce in the combo already. Important note that Vergil's HSH causes groundbounce, so if you're doing the variation that goes HSH release round trip then followup you've already used it up. If you mean activating spiral swords then doing lunar phase and the opponent drops out, it shouldn't cause ground bounce at all while swords are still active and they might be at the wrong height/spacing to land lunar phase properly for followup. Yeah, I'm probably remembering it wrong. I haven't played in a while and I'm just getting back in to it. Either way, I seem to always miss the last hit of lunar phase maybe due to height or spacing. I'll have to play around with it.

E: The gist of it is, if you land a snapback on a dead character, then both the opponent's remaining characters come in, and his inputs apply to both characters. Some stuff that's been found out:

-The character who comes in first (the one who didn't get snapped in) is treated like an assist by the game. So he takes extra damage.
-If you let the "assist" character return to neutral (i.e. let go of the stick and don't push any buttons), he hops offscreen like he was called as an assist.
-Once the "assist" character leaves the screen, he can't come back, period. Can't call him as an assist, can't tag him in, dhc, he can't even be snapped back in. If you kill the point character at this point, you win the match, even though there is a living character in the back. You can see that in action here
-Landing snapbacks on dead characters is REALLY hard, since it seems like only a couple moves in the game can actually combo them to allow you to land the snapback. So this probably won't be something that ever sees use in a match.

It's almost as amazingly insane as the old MvC3 Quicksilver glitch, except better. On one hand you have to beat two characters at once, but on the other hand, if you do you win the match in a hurry. Oh Marvel :allears:

Are those game ending glitches? Seems to me like, if the match can proceed and determine a winner once it occurs, it should be allowed. Though I'm not remembering how quicksilver broke the game, did it end up stopping everything?

You can do chip, but the real thing that makes the glitch broken is that Dante can move infinitely during his THC freeze by continually bold cancelling, and the opponent literally can't move whether they're getting hit/blocking or not. So if the Dante doesn't drop it, you can't do anything until time runs out.

Ahh, so it de facto ends the match via timeout if dante has a life lead, and doesn't seem like it requires any mistake or mistep on the part of the opponent. I think that is more reasonable to ban then, since it isn't like there is something they could do to avoid it. It isn't that far off from the skrull infinite, but that at least requires that you lose a character, and can be escaped by taking the hit or air dashing.

The official Evo rule on this type of thing is "You may not use any glitch that prevents the game from being played. This includes game freezing, game resetting, player freezing, etc."

In that case Vergil should be classified as a glitch that prevents the game from being played. :bustem:

For real though, what fighting game glitches to outlaw/not outlaw is pretty murky territory and varies from game-to-game and glitch-to-glitch. If that double-character glitch is really so hard to pull off, I doubt it'll ever get banned until some guy runs a gimmick team solely dedicated to pulling it off just for the hell of it.

So far it's been confirmed to work with Nova and Skrull, and it works in versus mode (not just training mode). Hi Im Nastyy is experimenting with it on stream right now. He's trying to activate the glitch a second time and get 4 characters on screen. http://www.twitch.tv/hi_im_nastyy

Flight mode also lasts forever on the assist character.
