The clack of a light autocannon going off is just how you know everything's alright.
I am loving the characters' moments of clarity. Compared to other shows of similar content, these realizations actually make sense in context, and really help me enjoy the cast more.

Holy poo poo. :stare:

That episode was tense and intense in entirely different ways. Mikasa is a really great character, that moment of realization that she wanted to live while her body was already subconsciously reacting in an effort to do just that was done amazingly. Don't even need to say how ridiculously awesome boxing titan that is likely somehow Eren was, do I?

Over-extended analysis of the theory that I don't agree with but whatever: you wouldn't kill a Titan, you chop off it's limb and cook and eat that, and then the Titan regenerates.

Titan flesh evaporates as soon as it becomes separated from the main body.

Trust me, you are taking this a lot more seriously then I am.
If you are going by horror movie tropes you wouldn't be trying to eat the titian only biting as a defense mechanism, the real flaw in the theory is that they had to make especially hard disposable swords to cut titian flesh so teeth probably wouldn't cut it (yeah, yeah :rimshot:)

So, random question not directly related to the episode: When does an OST come out for this show? Seriously, the opening (hurry the gently caress up July 10th release date for the full song! :argh:) is not just the only good piece of music in this show. Also, who was the composer for the show again? Because he or she is loving great with music choices for this show.

Sawano Hiroyuki does the music for the show and yeah the wait for the OST is killing me. Apparently the OST will be released on June 28th.

As if I didn't :fap: enough to him for the Gundam Unicorn, Ao No Exorcist and Guilty Crown OST's, every AoT episode feels like it just gets better and better making the wait more difficult.

I started watching this right around the time that episode five came out. I had a friend of mine addicted to this after episode six came out. This might just be the first time that I've started watching a show as it's been coming out and I'm really glad that I got into it. I've heard that this has been confirmed for a second season as well, is that true?

A second season hasn't been confirmed yet. I imagine if we get one the earliest it will be announced is after the last episode.

'Course, it's also possible that the show will have an anime-only ending. Or it could just suddenly end, leaving viewers to read the manga if they want any sort of closure.

I'm pretty sure 25 episodes were more or less confirmed, so it's a two-season length.

Was anyone else disappointed that they added Mikasa jumping around like that and the nonsense about how she couldn't help but try to stay alive with the titan swinging at her the whole way through? Also changing it up so that the second titan that pops up only appears at the last moment, after she finally finds her resolve to stay alive, instead of popping up just before she does the "I've had a good life, *brief-flashback*, actually I'd rather live" bit, it just seems like they drew that whole segment out too much and poo poo up the scene because of it.

I don't want to seem like some sort of terrible manga purist who demands it all be perfect 1:1 representations of the manga but I think some of the stuff they've put in as extras are really bad, specifically what they've done with Mikasa(Her little lightning effect from the flashback where she lost her parents irked me since that's not really a thing that Attack on Titan does at all, I do understand it wasn't trying to be something like a shounen powerup visual-effect but I thought the scene didn't need something like that to illustrate the point that was being made, but having her doing all sorts of super acrobatic stuff to dodge a titan while she's unable to use 3D gear and even effectively attacking it with a sword that is all but out of usable blades just runs counter to everything the series has set out to establish.

I found a pretty good adition, actually. Her determination to fight and stay alive, or die and betray Eres' memories and teachings (If you wan't to live, you got to fight) culminating with the appearance of boxing-Titan was put so well together that i find really hard to criticize the director's artistic license.

Mikasa's lighting effect sequence was suposed to represent her synapses overcharging her body with adrenaline, maybe? Was a bit out of place but nothing major. Up to this point the anime is surpassing every aspect of the manga and i wouldn't worry to much about it.

Jumpjet, melta, jumpjet. Repeat for ten minutes or until victory is assured.
So I guess the idea that Eren is the anti-titan titan and titans are made from people who get eaten explains why more of the titans have male features than female. Proportionally you'd have more soldiers than civilians eaten, so more men on average I'm guessing.

ShardPhoenix

Pickle: Inspected.
As others have pointed out the what and the why of the new titan are pretty obvious, but it was still well done. This show is really good at making you afraid for the characters. Now I'm curious if Eren will stay a Titan for the rest of the story/until he dies for real, and if he does, will he be able to communicate with the rest of them?

One complaint I have is that everyone wearing the same uniform combined with the relatively realistic character designs (ie no crazy hair or eye colors) makes it a bit hard to remember which minor character is which sometimes. Still, they're becoming more familiar over time.

I was fine with that actually. Mikasa pulling off some bullshit no one else can do is business as usual in the manga or the anime alike, and she was still being cornered while fighting a hopeless battle. I don't see the problem, really.

Yeah. Being able to flip like that isn't too hard to believe given what all of them can do with the 3DMG. I'd be surprised if more couldn't flip about to some degree, really, given the physical prowess the gear demands in terms of strength and balance.

The difference between confinement and rest is a shift in perspective

The Pomegranate is a reference to a buddhist story about a giant that learned to eat Pomegranates instead of people. It's a direct reference to the Angry Titan that doesn't eat people, but it's also a paralell to the small blade. Both Mikasa and Armin are seeing the small blade as a means by which to abandon all hope to the cruelty of the world, Armin through suicide and Mikasa by just plowing through it swinging. The Pomegranate is supposed to be 'another path' to survive, hope, basically.

I was wondering what the hell that thing in the street was. I thought it was the giant fingertip Mikasa had severed.

My theory with Rage Titan is that it's Eren, hijacking the body of the Titan that ate him. It's not that he can transform into a Meat Gundam at will, because that would completely change the trajectory of the show, but that he can act as a poison pill. That would mean that the next time he wants to transform, he has to get himself swallowed whole by some other giant rear end in a top hat.
