Just added myself to the DA list. PSN is PrjctD_Captain. Pawn Nyra is fairly low level at 30 with ok Inclinations I keep forgetting to fix. Any help would be much appreciated, especially since I'm bumming off the Queens Gown from the import bonus for armour on her.

My roommate is usually in the living room with me when I play, and I really don't want to have to put up with her questions as to why I'm killing dragons with "Fagette" and "N-Word Jim." Though it did result in a hilarious argument on whether it was more racist to hire or to not hire N-Word Jim just because of his name.

Dr. Abysmal posted:A lot of people hire pawns based entirely on how cool they look and they don't care about stats or inclinations (as evidenced by how many Guardians exist). The princess dress is probably hurting more than it's helping when it comes to attracting people to hire your pawn. How would a Utilitarian behave, do you think, without any 'utility' type abilities? Paying for a couple potions at any given time so that Scather and Challenger could swap spots for Utilitarian doesn't seem all that bad though. Got to do something with that pile of RC that the original DD save file nets me.

So I got some sort of greatshield for mystic knights from the Ur-Dragon and I have no use for it. If anyone interested just give me a shout. I'm on the 360, but I'm not sure how I can give it to a pawn that can't use it.

I'm gonna hop on for a while longer this evening, so if anyone on 360 has a nice healbot I can use, that'd be super appreciated. If not, drop your pawn regardless of level (<60 or less though, please) and vocation and I'll try and have some fun with them and drop some screens later.

Which is unfortunate because switching from sorcerer to magic archer for round two of BBI is pretty painful with the scrawny gear I had squirreled away, even with it dragonforged. And the magic bows have been buffed? Yow. I mean, granted, I get some decent crowd control and I attack way faster and ricocheting lightning in a tiny room is hilarious, and actually getting a sorcerer spell off in some rooms feels like marginally better odds than winning the lottery, but one-shotting a gorechimera with a basic, un-charged Gicel is a pretty tough act to follow.

Trip report on trying to farm cursed items by using Master Thief on a chained Gorecyclops: It does work, but the cursed items are such a rare drop it probably isn't worth it. You do get a shitton of Gorecyclops materials though, which depending on how much they sell for, this could be a decent way of farming gold. EDIT: Also the cyclops appears to only drop novelties, not armor like I thought. Maybe the ones later on drop better stuff, I'm using the one in Midnight Helix. EDIT: Final haul after 15 minutes was 2 Lvl 2 Novelties and 1 Lvl 3 Novelty. Got 600k worth of materials as well. If I put all my stuff in storage and went naked I think I could probably bring back 1 million in materials. RatHat fucked around with this message at 00:20 on May 21, 2013 |

Any tips on items or spells for my healbot mage main pawn? He just maxed out his Mage vocation, and he's pretty boring. Should I have him dip into sorcerer to pick up some more offensive spells while I rent a healer? And where can I find better armor so he's not so squishy? Gamertag is ChrisBrimstone. And I agree the progression is nuts. I went from killing bandits to cyclops in 5 levels.

Pawns can't become Mystic Knights, so you can't equip it on them, which is the only way to trade armor/weapons. Count Chocula posted:Any tips on items or spells for my healbot mage main pawn? You want to max it out so that you can get the Conservation (less stamina used per spell), Acuity (20% more magic), and Articulacy (15% faster cast speed, stacks with Wyrmking's Ring) augments. When you pick those up and switch your pawn back to mage, he'll be significantly better off.

Am I playing this game wrong or something? I have a character that's on her fourth playthrough, with an inventory stuffed full of end-game drops. I also have a low-level character on an alternate PSN account, whom I could hire and outfit with super rad gear if I wanted. He / she may have done something like that with their pawn. Unless you have a high-level benefactor, Arisen and main pawn will look like battle hobos for quite a while. e: clarity

I have Heaven's Key, a holy dagger. With it equipped I have 834 Strength and 1420 Magick rating. I also have Dragon's Vein, a regular dagger, which leaves me at 1297 Strength if equipped. I assume Heaven's Key does more total damage against an enemy with no holy resistance, is that right or is there a more complicated formula at work? Also if a pawn uses something like Fire Affinity, does it stack with or overwrite the inherent enhancement?

Yeah, Heaven's Key will do more damage 99% of the time since barely any enemies have a significant amount of holy resistance. And enchants will stack, and change the element.

ARACHNOTRON posted:I always check a pawn's skills first ever since I hired a level 80 fighter with the two starting skills and nothing else. On the subject of fighters with only 2 skills, I'd just like to mention that my fighter pawn's performance increased drastically when I got rid of everything except Dragon's Maw and Heavenward Lash (she uses this one extremely rarely, only to reach things above her). I also stick Shield Drum on there when I'm a sorcerer which isn't especially effective but every tiny bit that helps me finish casting High Gicel is alright by me. Pawns seem to use other fighter skills very poorly. A lot of this seems to be because they don't tend to move your pawn forward with each strike like basic attacks do, so they end up missing a lot. Happens with Dragon's Maw too but it's good enough to be worth it. Burst Strike is a skill they use and land very often, but typically they'll end up doing more with normal attacks/more Dragon's Maw, and there seems to be this lovely AI quirk where they'll waste time moving a few feet away from a target they're attacking, then Burst Strike back to it. Defensive shield skills seem really terrible on them. They use them when they don't need to and don't use them when they need to. Better off relying on their enemy knowledge to let them perfect block stuff. I feel like my pawn probably gets hired less because people see that I only have 2-3 skills equipped and think it's garbage, when it really works a lot better.

Ok, I have what might be a dumb question... I just opened up the second shortcut in Bitterblack Isle, and there's that broken rift stone. Why would I pay to repair it? There's one by the other shortcut which I already repaired, and the one at the entrance. Is there some sort of reward for repairing all of them?

They should use Softeners if you give them to them before they're fully petrified, but there's a curative called Cockatrice Liqueur that cures petrification on your whole party. If you're a Sorcerer or Magick Archer you can also cure them yourself(High Voidspell and High Ward Arrow).

Got a few more screenies that I had taken before after I remembered my capcom account info on a new computer. Clusterfuck of a shot but that's a Garm in the background getting a beatdown. Another angle of the 'Juggling Two Eliminator' shot. You can't really see the Eliminators except for sort of a leg but there is a decent amount of blood. I have no idea what my Arisen is doing there.(Edit: Probably trying to figure out how my pawn's lantern is hovering in midair.) Dark, but I think the churchy look fit the big guy. And re: Petrification-I usually give them a couple Softners each if I'm heading to a Petrify fight, and keep a couple Cockatrice Liquors on hand as well. Usually when I give them the Softners they use them regardless of inclination, but I'm not sure how exactly that works or not since I've heard stories of them sitting there staring at the potions as they're turning to stone with no doubt a stupid look on their faces.
