If you're a "competitive raider" and it's taking you more than 7 hours a week to complete the current content I feel like that's a problem. Also, having that running at all times seems foolish. You know when you're about to beat a boss. Just pop the vial then and be good for an hour. But then, I'm not a "competitive raider" so maybe that's why it's not bothering me. I can see where someone might be upset because of theoretical fringe cases, but I don't see this as a constant issue.

Now it puts more motivation for PTS raiding so that you'll want to have raids "down pat" from PTS so you can efficiently get things down. My personal hope is that a lot of that doesn't make it to live and they just don't want to reveal what the real cash shop items are but that's probably wildly optimistic and also not in line with what a lot of other players hope. From your posts on that thread I don't think you know what immediately means, most of the gear that would be an upgrade that I saw requires a dumb rep grind, therefore the advantage is decidedly not "immediately available". Will I be purchasing Barnacles for my alts so I can use my main to load it with precious lessers? Likely. Will I skip the IS grind to buy those lessers? Most likely not.

There's people who did Qajiri rep overnight as soon as it was possible. It's not immediate but it's pretty close to it (I won't speak for myself because I hate rep grinding). Dumb rep grinds are a just a sanity barrier. Also my first post in that thread was a little sensationalist and done really late at night v  v.

With this game going F2P I was looking for something that could potentially sate my bloodlust for PvP. I was very big into PvP in WoW. OG High Warlord, Arena Master, blah blah. Quit because the game became too focused on blasting cooldowns and trying to beat the absurd amount of healing. Can anyone whose done a whole lot of PvP in Rift sell me on it? In WoW I really felt that using mobility, mind games, and tricks you could vastly out skill opponents and often take on several at a time if you knew what you were doing. Is this something that is still possible in Rift? Further, WoW was horribly horribly horribly balanced around healing. Healing was far and away the most overpowered gamebreaking thing about PvP. Is the balance a little better in Rift, or are you still expected to have 1 healer per 3 players?

It's honestly starting to sound like the f2p model is completely p2w. I really, really hope they stay cosmetic with it. I haven't researched the switch much at all, so I'm not sure how in-depth they've already made it so I hope they have the time to rectify this horrible decision.

It's not pay to win until they offer raid-equivalent gear in the cash shop only. It's not P2W if you have half the dungeon cooldowns of non-subscription users, it's not pay to win if you can purchase some extra PA XP or whatever.

So, the 2.3 up on the PTS has some really amazing stuff going on. The store is most certainly not p2w. The stuff on the store that you can 'buy' that is 'bis' requires the max rep still, all you gain is the ability to pay a few bucks instead of farming IS for 6 (or 12 if you're a tank) lessers. People won't have the best in slot within 5 mins of it going live, short of a bug. Much of the items on the store are things from normal in game vendors that was put there for ease of access so that players didn't have to run around. Personally, I have no problem with any of the potions; perhaps because I've only gotten a chance to go 3 and 2 bosses deep in the current tier for reasons out of our control such as raid numbers dipping. If this helps us get more bang for the buck no pun intended, awesome. Hardcore buddies just have to deal with it for now, we'll see if it changes though. Remember the expert dungeon/raid trinkets we all have and never use because they sucked? The goon guild is on a PVE server. There are PVP servers but honestly this game has such a huge reliance on open world stuff, a bad pvp server is going to end up being incredibly frustrating.

I haven't played since about 3-4 months after launch and I'm trying to get back into it. I have a level 26 Bard but all my points are reset and I don't remember hwo to play the character. How useful are these preset spec suggestions? Can I feasibly level as a healer/support character? I don't really like playing damage focused characters even if it means leveling a bit slower. Thinking about just deleting this character and recreating it. How long does it take to get to 26 as a clueless newbie?
