Project CX, which features various Famicom/NES peripherals, is Season 15's main segment after Retro Read-Aloud. We've only released a few of them so far but you'll be seeing a lot more of those soon (when I stop being so busy -- I should be able to return to more translating once this month is over). I love the episode I'm working on right now and there's a Project CX in it.

If you're talking about the one I think you're talking about, the arcade trip is amazing as well. It's one of the episodes that I've been looking forward to getting into.

About 30 minutes until the new GCCX episode starts in Japan. Hope the Blaster Master episode is a fun one to watch.

Here is a link to the raw for #160 Blaster Master.

In case you are interested, Last Continue is going to start work on subbing #160 Blaster Master. He is also working on subbing #158 Jogging Race. Look forward to these subs if you wish.

Here is the hint for the next episode. Translation please.

I thought it was implying that Watanabe picked the game for the next challenge. I could be wrong on this! Ask me anything about the behind-the-scenes of Game Center CX! loving nothing

Watanabe picking a game? Burger Time. Short Order is possible too, but I doubt Arino could take another Power Pad challenge so soon.

It's going to be the first episode that Watanabe directed. That's all.

Which means that I am going to predict a really obscure Mega Drive game for the next episode since they didn't bother hinting at it. Lets say... Panorama Cotton.

D Inoue directed that episode if I recall. Check the end credits to be sure. D Watanabe was promoted to Director for that episode, but she was not the one to direct the Mickey Mouse episode. Just check the end credits.

What about Final Fight, Comix Zone, Battletoads? Not that I wouldn't mind Double Dragon.

My initial thought was some kind of command-based adventure game like Monkey Island or Maniac Mansion, but I must confess I'm not sure if any of the untranslated games are similar.

Oh, huh. I guess that is technically her "directoral debut", even if it's not the whole thing.

New genre, huh? No clue there. They've done just about everything. Hell, I didn't know "quiz games" were a genre until I started watching the show!

I still would love to watch him attempt to play Doom since he didn't have a chance to play it on the US trip.

The only genres I can think of that they haven't played yet (to my knowledge) that would work for the show are point and click adventure games, rhythm games, casino/gambling games, and first person shooters. Another possibility would be simulation games like SimCity, which don't end unless you count the scenarios, but they could give him a goal like getting a million people in his city. I'm pretty sure it would be boring to watch, though...

Gutcruncher

Go home and be a family man!
Hes challenged text adventures, which I guess you could count along with point and clicks, and a rhythm game and Actraiser was part simulation sort of.

Edit: What about sports? Mutant League Football!

Or maybe a horse racing game, like Derby Stallion?

Arino's gonna take up Starcraft and show the Koreans how it's done.

As for an actual anwser it's really hard to think of one. I agree with maybe a board game type, as the only other genre that comes to mind is turn based strategy and that's only if they wouldn't count the Fire Emblem special as being a normal episode.

First person shooter! No, that's unlikely since they're probably not going to bring out a PS1 or above and their options are really limited when it comes to the genre with that restriction.

How about Herzog Zwei. That would be an interesting one.

If they pull out a horse racing game, I'm avoiding that episode. Those games are like watching flies gently caress, or paint dry. So effing boring. All the Arino wit in the world would not make that episode funny.

I'm imagining a staff tournament at the end, with Arino losing to a worker rush. (Immediately sending your worker units to the enemy's base and attacking. Pretty much the easiest strategy in the world to beat, because you'll always have more units than them as long as you didn't sit on your thumbs without building anything while they looked for your base.)

If he plays Doom, it should be the way Carmack intended - on a PC, using a keyboard as a controller. Might make for a pretty good episode. Imagine the look on his face when he realizes that you lose all your weapons when you die.
