Until you stop chopping yeah. I agree, I'd like to be able to turn off auto reload.

Hooray I beat my first normal playthough. The last boss was really easy and stupid and literally everything before it was harder which is a pretty hosed up difficulty curve. So what do I need to know for tvhm? I'm level 35 right now so where should I start grinding for stuff? Should I avoid any non-story quests?

Just start it up, do whatever quests you want. Playthrough 3 is where you want to keep the side quests free, if that's your thing. I went through PT2 and only did side quests if the story missions were getting too far above my level.

I'm not I agree, since you can re-run UVH if you want so you'll get multiple chances at quest rewards, right?

Yes, UVHM is playthrough 3. Yes, you can reset it whenever you want. I guess if you're trying to be the most efficient, get to 61 ASAP, do no side quests until then, and then once you get a little past sanctuary you can get pretty much any quest you want. Though I fail to see how it matters since if you ever play with friends who are around the same level, you can almost always get any quest you want at will. I'm amused by the idea that there's a right or wrong way to play this game. I've been through all 3 playthroughs at least 15 times with different characters or with other people so at this point I might just be an edge case who thinks none of it matters. Also, there are way easier ways to get multiple chances at the same quest reward than slogging through a reset UVHM over and over. At the end of the day, just play the game.

Given level 50 guns are still strong until the mid 50s I'd suggest doing TVHM without side quests, then doing the side quests at level 50 to scoop some good guns to start off UVHM with. The jumps in difficulty from level to level in TVHM make guns obsolete rapidly, spoiling unique quest rewards guns, but UVHM is more forgiving.

Having gone through a major portion of the opening story and DLC areas multiple times now, I find my biggest complaint with this game is that they made very large areas to traverse while walking. If there was anything that flat out said "gently caress you" to stack decay rates or lack of enemies, its these lulls of transit where I'd rather just have a fast-travel spawn out of the ground when I defeat Motor Mama, because walking all the way around a circle three times is a humongous waste of fun.

They should have introduced motorcycles for navigating the tighter areas where larger vehicles aren't accessible. I'd love to take a tiny, unprotected bike through all the Varkid nests in Tiny Tina's area.

Borderlands 1 had this issue with all its DLC's, General Knoxx's DLC was the worst about it, yeah you got a fancy Lancer tank, but it was slow as hell and you had to drive for miles to get anywhere. You'd also better hope the Crimson Lance didn't blow your car up though (and they would) as you'd be running for ages to reach the next Catch a Ride.

Yeah there are definitely a few problems like that in this game. In the next one I'd like to be able to just summon a car wherever (bigger areas and flying vehicles would be cool too) and sell items from the backpack menu. So many times I'd have to run way back to the start of a dungeon type area to sell some poo poo and free up backpack space, I know money is relatively pointless so I was just wasting my own time by choice by doing that but they could have just put more vending machines halfway through the dam and Firehawks lair, places like that.

Made it to 37 in TVHM last night and while my guns couldn't hurt poo poo, I was slicing through fools relentlessly! Chain a buzzaxe toss into a melee swing, hit myself once and throw another axe. Re-mutate when the killskill ends, since everyone I'm facing is 41 and knocks my healthbar's dick into the floor instantly. Middle tree all the way. Jumped to the Torgue DLC. Haven't had to respawn until getting to Flyboy, whereupon every buzzard fucks me because they can dodge all my buzzaxe tosses, and don't provide enough platforming for me to reach them with melee. Spent five deaths and just gave up back to the main story. Anyone with a Mechro [or something to deal with those buzzards] mind running through the rest of Torgue with me? Thanks to tagging along with higher-level goons, I was able to skip most of TVHM with Krieg. Now, I've beaten it, and every enemy is 10 levels higher than me.

Oh, yeah. That's mostly why I have "lovely" weapons. I can't get Salt the Wound stacks if I have a decent shield recharge rate, and I can't go into Release the Beast until my health is at 33% [which usually requires an emptied shield]. It's awesome fun to chain together strings of rampages, but more often I'm hitting myself two times in the face instead of killing anyone. I've since switched to throwing the buzzaxe more, as I believe without the dynamite skill modifier it's considered melee damage. It's frustrating against shifty assholes like Buzzards or some of the smaller psychos, but ultimately more rewarding when you sink that Last-of-the-Mohicans throw. e: I should also mention it's somewhat difficult at times to balance 'when' to pull the trigger on Release the Beast in TVHM. I'm against level 45 characters now, at lvl38 myself. They can take out my shield in one hit, and usually get my health to 33% in two more. If I have three or more enemies firing at me simultaneously, I'm dead meat.

The thrown buzz axe is definitely considered a melee attack, at least for some purposes. Throwing that thing around with the bonus from Love Thumper seems to make its damage skyrocket, and it causes the melee explosion whenever you nail someone with it.

How long does it take until the buzzaxe isn't terrible? I'm 13 and it takes like 10 swipes to kill anyone. I rarely ever use it unless I need health and have an enemy that's almost dead.

Something seems wrong with that, for me it was one shotting nearly every basic enemy until I got to the robots in the dam. They took a few swipes.
