Thats not how it works, its actually better than that. The bonuses are added in sequence, not at the same time. What this means a bonus of 10% and 20% will give you a 32% total bonus. (100*1.10)*1.20=1.32

Is there an XP penalty if you hire a higher level pawn? I got a healer who's about 6 levels ahead of me while I train my healer into a Sorc.

No there's not. I've been using level 200 pawns for a while and I'm only level 68.

Is Fournival still available in the post game or do I need to start over again to get his items?

He should wander down from the noble district during the day, I usually see him hanging out over by where the Black Cat moves to.

Speaking of that guy, earlier in my game he sold a bunch of the old DLC items, and now that the city is all blown up they seem to be gone. They're not exactly great gear or anything, but that's kind of weird.

Also, gently caress Daimon in his ugly, cheap, face. I can't even believe how frustrated I am about a stupid game right now. Guess I'll just load everyone the gently caress up with healing gear and wakestones before I try again.

There's totally an XP penalty. You get less XP with pawns higher levels than you and more XP with pawns lower levels than you. I don't think anyone has ever cared enough to figure out the math but I've seen people throw numbers around like "30%".

e: you also gain more experience for having fewer pawns with you.

On the 360 version, one of the top pawns overall is a Level 30 fighter, so she's been one of my two hires pretty much all the way from level 30 on.

The black cat dude should be near the tavern sitting on the ground. I tried some of the DLC weapons and the only one that has been remotely useful is the one that's good against dragons.

I'm actually playing as a caster now so this question isn't totally relevant, but does anyone have any experience with the strider skills Pilfer/Master Thief? In one of my earlier playthroughs they were very useful for stealing healing items from deer but if I tried to use them in combat I got nothing, even when the target was restrained. Is there some trick to it?

You may just need to gear/upgrade up more before you take on daimon, otherwise you'll be doing next to no damage to the guy. Be sure to take a lot of damage periapts along with you (they stack up to 4 times), and if you play a yellow class and really want to cheese it, blast arrows.

Okay, I had max affinity with Quina, Mercedes, Aelinore, Madeleine, and Selene. Somehow I've maxed out another lady but who could it even be? Did I forget some other quest related woman? Does the game count the same person again if you lower their affinity then re-max it? This stuff is such a pain to keep track of what the hell.

I was having a hell of a time as Magic Knight getting him to leave me alone long enough to put my pile-o-cannons down*. So nobody loves my pawn as a mage, but for the brief period I had her as a fighter someone decided to use her like gently caress and dumped her back to me with 50k RC and a full set of new gear as well as a badass sword and shield which I then copped for myself. Also some level 3 cursed item whatever the gently caress that does.

Do people just not hire mage pawns, or what?

Try Magick Archer. I played Mystic Knight the first time I got the game and made it through 6 or 7 quests before I got bored with it and sold it.

Then the DLC came out and fixed my major issue with it (no fast travel ability) so I picked it up again. Now I'm playing Magick Archer and I've run through the main storyline twice and the DLC storyline once so far and it's still really fun.

You may want to just try doing charged holy shots with your staff rather than great cannons. Like you said, it can be difficult to find time to enchant your weapon and plop down 2 cannons without him wrecking you.

For L3 cursed items, I just use the second shortcut and make my way down. There's one place just past the 2 chained gore cyclopses where you can climb up some rubble to get a really great chance at a L3 gear and novelty. When you reach the city, there are 2 chests that can contain armor (ornate chest all the way west behind the house towards the end, and a plain chest on a roof in the middle of the area), one that can contain a weapon (ornate chest north of the start, on a small roof in between 2 bigger ones, close to the wakestone), and 2 that can contain gear/novelties (on a roof just above/south of the weapon one, and on a roof all the way to the southwest). All of it is L3. Then there's daimon right after, who has a bunch of chests and can drop stuff himself. You'll also need to kill the lightning dragon(s) if you plan on godsbaning.

Another option for equipment is to head in the front entrance, towards the place where you find your first chained gore cyclops and get the void key. In the area just before there, there's an ornate chest that almost always gives a L3 gear. It's in a side room just off the flooded area. If you haven't done so yet, you need to go further in and jump up some stuff to flip the switch to take down the gate. When you get to the gore cyclops room, the chest all the way at the top can contain L3 armor, as can the ornate chest in the back area where the big skeletons pop up. If this room contains a dragon and strigoi you'll need to kill them first, though. If it's the gore cyclops you can ignore him, and just kill whatever shadow pawn guys follow you to the upper chest. Taking pawns is not recommended because they gently caress around a lot and keep you in combat, unable to save your game for some godsbaning.

And yeah, prepare to do plenty of godsbaning. Save before opening chests that you really care about and start stabbin till you get what you want. Then purify it and get utter poo poo. A double dose of RNG!

None of them really seem to stand out as being crazy complex compared to the others, but I really dislike magic knight for the reason you mentioned. A whole lot of smacking stationary orbs. If you want to get into melee you've also got to spend years standing still and buffing yourself every couple minutes as well. Maybe give fighter a shot? You've got to be on your game to perfect block everything coming at you.

Are people really just spamming magic cannons+ruinous sigil and not using the ripostes? The draw of MK for me is using that bigass shield to perfect block poo poo from point blank or a mile away. I don't bother with the enchants since they barely last and aren't worth it as long as you have a pawn on enchant duty.

Another question for y'all: is it better to beat the Everfall end-game content (and I think move on to NG+ as a result, right?) and then do BBI, or do BBI first?

I don't necessarily mind having to run through the game a second time, but would probably want to do BBI first before I go through the whole thing and kill the Dragon again. I wouldn't mind seeing the ending, but I think I read here that NG+ would reset any BBI progress I make, so does it make more sense to first go on to NG+ and then immediately go on to BBI?

Yeah, I've been playing both Mystic Knight and Magic Archer for about 5 levels each and I have to say that despite it's somewhat ho-hum stat gain the Magic Archer seems to be far more fun and versatile than the Mystic Knight this far.

For me, mystic knight is about casting sigils + magic cannons right under giant enemies (or making one a bit away and luring them in) so it does absolutely stupid damage. If I'm gonna fight at long range I'll just be a sorcerer or something.

As for ripostes, does it really do enough damage to justify the fact that you are deliberately putting yourself in harm's way in order to use them?

Absolutely, yes. Abyssal Riposte shits Torpor all over the place and Demonswrath, ohhhh man. Every time you get a perfect block with Demonswrath on you charge up your shield and at max power you can use the skill again to fire a huge blast that can wipe out most foes in one hit.

What I don't understand is why Capcom simply didn't just roll with the option of "locking" your romance to whoever you give the Arisens Bond? As it stands now I'm probably going to end up with the goddamn duchess when I was actually going for Quina or Madeleine.

Varies. Game starts off difficult-ish depending on your starter class, then is pretty easy for the majority of the game and post-game (Everfall). Parts of BBI can be pretty difficult at times - at lower levels it's "poo poo will gently caress me up" difficult and at higher it's more "I'm having trouble staying awake" difficult.

I really like the romance portion of this game solely because so many people have inadvertently ended up with Asalam or Fournival as their one true love. Just the thought of someone walking into that room on their first playthrough, ready for the final showdown, with the dragon getting his serious speech mode on while Asalam flails around on the screen. And then, kisses. Cracks me up.

The way this works is that you think you're going to get the duchess when you're going for Quina, but then you end up with Selene instead. Who then turns into Madeleine in the final cutscene of the game for some god damned reason.

Basically the "romance" stuff is laughably done and has been glitchy since Dragon's Dogma originally launched. I think Capcom has been avoiding fixing it on purpose simply because it is kind of hilarious.

I hosed up Fourival's quest somehow. I turned in 4 pieces of evidence (though one was Reynard's writ) in his favor, my pawns said he'd be found innocent, and yet he was found guilty! He deserved it but if looks like I screwed myself out of some awesome items.
