He's probably just pissed that he doesn't have the kinda money they do.

Finally getting to see Skeletonwitch tonight after missing them two years in a row. loving ready. edit - was somewhat ready (apparently some bands couldn't make it so they came on before we could and drink a bit), they put on a rager of a show. New album drops this fall and they played a track "Burnt to Bone" off of it. Sounds pretty good Omnikin fucked around with this message at 04:49 on May 27, 2013 |

Bolt Thrower sounded kinda muddy Saturday night, but they still killed it. Autopsy was insane, Chris Reifert is a madman. Benediction was solid but not super compelling. The Glass House is a pretty cool venue.

Havok released their new single. It's great imo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ur2AZQI0gl8 Their last album was amazing, the new one drops June 18th. My expectations are through the roof.

I'm really digging this track, even more than the previous one. I don't know how they keep managing to be simultaneously both heavy as gently caress and extremely catchy, while maintaining their signature sound without sounding stale or repetitive. Here it is on youtube too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZijxVllGQs

Ya boy right here, Dan Swano, has a new thing coming out in August. He doesn't really do metal anymore but since there's probably some Swano/Edge of Sanity fans hanging around in here. Its like... Crimson, Moon Tower, and Nightingale merged sounds. He actually growls again towards the end of the song! Have a taste: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwsLxPBknOk

I was right up next to the stage for Napalm. I was almost able to hear again by the time Cannibal Corpse started playing. It loving rocked. I've never really listened to much Immolation before, but I really liked their set too. Vigna's solos were all tight as hell and great for head banging. Beyond Creation was supposed to open, but apparently they forgot to renew their visas or something like that so they got stuck at the Canadian border. I also heard that they were late to one of the Canadian shows of the tour. Something tells me they're not getting invited back on a big tour like this anytime soon.

With Oden on Our Side and Twilight of the Thunder God were awesome. Surtur Rising was pretty meh but had a few badass songs. If nothing else Johan's vocals have consistently gotten better on every album. That new song didn't really grab me but he sounds loving monstrous.

I'd rather every band stick to what Manilla Road does, but I'll be satisfied as long as they keep doing it. They put on, by far, the best show at MDF and got an unbelievable response from the crowd. They were so drat good! The best songs, the best band, the best performance - it was great to see so much enthusiasm for them, especially at a festival that specializes in more extreme stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mS0Os1OXFA
