So I finally got enough magic mirrors to beat the Six's sister. Now I'm off to the next boss fight after that and its hard as poo poo. How do I beat this Umbrella woman?

Nvm figured it out. Just used mirrors again.

So for anyone else playing SMTIV, do you have any strategies for making money? I rarely if ever buy anything, and it always seems like I'm perpetually penniless. Grinding for artifacts is tedious and selling a bunch of LAN cables and blood pressure gauges for 50 Makka apiece doesn't do much when equipment and Compendium summons costs thousands of Makka each. I'm almost tempted to sell off my nifty Demonica suit for the cash since it's worth so much.

Apparently the Ara Mitama in the DLC drop items that can be sold for a ton of cash. So... there's that, but I could certainly understand not wanting to go that route. It's not unexpected given the success of Fire Emblem Awakening's DLC.

They do sell for a reasonable amount, but they're fairly rare drops and are far more useful on their own--they immediately level-up whatever you use them on.

On a side note, the item DLC is a ripoff but that particular DLC is amazing. It's an unabashed grinding area, but it's fantastic for rapidly leveling-up your demons so they can learn all their skills. (I suppose you could use the items you get there on yourself, but that would destroy all semblance of balance in the game) Plus its BGM is a really well-done remix of the Nocturne hospital theme.

Nocturne was super enjoyable for me and I never got why people said it was so horribly difficult. Is it just that the game is "inaccessible" and people die once to Matador before abandoning it?

I guess maybe it wasn't so much the difficulty, it was more that I got through Matador and a bunch of hard bosses, but the dungeons go so extremely long between saves that a death just made it impossible for me to keep dumping more and more time into the game.

Is Soul Hackers suppose to include a lot of grinding? It seems that every big dungeon I beat I have to grind to get more powerful demons. Also how do I make my demons not hate me? As in make them not hate me more until they leave my party.

You really don't need to grind at all. The only characters who benefit from it are the protagonist and Nemissa and Nemissa should be able to nuke everyone as long as you've invested in magic.

What makes demon loyalty increase depends on their personality. Make sure to issue them orders that follow this.

Wild demons like to physically attack.
Sly demons like to cast offensive spells.
Calm demons like being told to do what they think they have to do. So if a demon thinks healing is necessary, ordering it to heal will increase their loyalty. This takes a bit of getting used to and occasionally guesswork.
Kind demons like guarding, healing and buffing.
Dumb demons like being ordered to Go/dislike being given specific orders.

Certain items will also increase their loyalty levels and this is generally the easiest way to max out Calm and Sly demons. The other easiest way is to buy the Sake that makes them Kind and then have them Guard in every battle.

No, you shouldn't be needing to grind really in Soul Hackers. Just make sure you're always fusing new demons since they can't level.

Are you using attacks according to their personality? If you don't have maximum loyalty with them, any time you use a command that's not favored by them, they may disobey you. If that happens, their loyalty to you will decrease. Kind demons want to heal people or guard, wild demons want to use normal attacks, and dumb demons want it to be left up to them. Sly demons want magical attacks, and I'm honestly not sure what gets you loyalty with calm demons.

You can change a demon's personality temporarily by getting them drunk with sake. I always changed sly/calm demons personalities into wild in order to increase their loyalty.

If you're fusing max loyalty demons together, the new demon will result with maxed loyalty as well, making it so you don't have to worry about it.

Some quick thoughts after getting the "Liberator" ending in DS2:

-Overall, much easier than DS1 in that almost every map was straightforward. Barely any escort missions. It felt like they tried to adjust the difficulty by making everything seemingly hit a lot harder (both you and the enemies) to varying degrees of success.

-I never really cared for the plot in DS1 so Atlus Presents Evangelion was just fine. That said, the last boss was kind of disappointing.

-Holy Dance is still god drat broken.

-Jungo is the best Devil Survivor character.

Onto NG+.

Oh I just thought it was really silly in a game where the big bads are these eldritch abominations that speak a bizarre hieroglyphic language, and then the biggest bad of all is the Master Control Program from Tron, complete with a "This cannot be!" cry when you kill him. The actual fight was fairly hard because two of my Pythons had depleted their MP, but I made do.

Actually that's another thing that felt easier this time around; in DS1 running out of MP was a huge concern. This time around I never came close to running out in the last few days. I guess because everything (yourself included) dies a lot faster.

SMTIV is a good game, but the new designs really are poo poo. I laughed out loud when I first saw Medusa because it looked like it was ripped straight out of someone's DeviantArt account. Most of the new designs aren't really Kamen Rider-ish. They range from unremarkable to downright horrible. None I would describe as "good." Some of them are just nonsensical--you know Centaur, the man/horse hybrid everyone's familiar with? Now he's some bizarre double-headed bipedal horse with wings. Minotaur looks like a minotaur but for some reason he's got a human skull embedded in his nose with the eye sockets acting as his nostrils. The good news is that the majority of the designs are still Kaneko's, which while old and boring by this point, are leagues better than the new ones. The new designs seem largely restricted to especially important demons and bosses, though there are a few grunts with new designs mixed in.

And I would love to hear the reasoning for turning Dullahan into a woman, because without spoiling too much, it actively makes the story at one point weird as hell.

Dallahans are not mythologically just male. There are Dullahan stories which explicitly involve a woman Dullahan. I mostly remember because the story I recall basically has a kinda-misogynistic "well, if she doesn't have a head, at least she can't nag me" ending.

Yeah, I know, I just phrased that badly. I don't know he opted to design the Dullahan in the game as a woman. It's hard to explain without spoiling things, but it turns what would have been a "oh OK, that explains things" moment into an "OK, that's weird/kinda creepy" moment.
