ExtraTricky just tied the Pokémon Red/Blue WR using Nidoran strats and lost significant time through the run. Pretty sure it's a matter of time before Werster loses the record.

Are the Nidoran strats just similar to the Yellow route, or is there some other breakthrough?

Ryan's an insanely good Goldeneye speedrunner (6th best in the world), but I feel bad for him. He explained it some in his stream last night, but he got beaten to Bunker 00A 1:02 by the best Goldeneye player in the world. Apparently, he got it within 20-30 hours, too. By comparison, Ryan's spent about 150. On Sunday, he spent a half hour after his stream ended asking chat if it was even worth it to keep trying. I really hope he keeps going for attempts, though. 1:02 is amazing.

So a funny thing happened while murphagator was doing his Final Fight 3 commentary. He took a break between recordings and watched a "no damage" TAS of Rollergames submitted to TASVideos to see what it did differently from his SDA run. On the stage 2 autoscroller, the boss in the TAS goes through an extra cycle compared to his run.

I can't begin to imagine a blind 100% of those games. I've 100%'ed both but after hours upon hours of gameplay and guides for those stupid collectibles and whatnot. Also thanks for bringing back memories of the horror of that goddamn mini-plane mission that was almost unbeatable on the PS2(but infinitely easier on the PC). That mission broke the minds of so many people.

After racing Aria of Sorrow with My Name Is Kaz the other day, we got to talking about games that could be raced and how they could be raced. Long story short, we devised the Megaman Bounty Hunt, and to that end, I hacked together the Megaman Bounty Hunt tool. The interface is currently close to nonexistent, but the tool should function as described in the guide on the page. Currently, it has data in it for Megaman 1-10, although 7 and 8 come with the caveat of requiring passwords to access certain robot masters. If there's demand, it shouldn't be hard for me to add data for the X series. Try it out, see if this type of race is fun, and let me know about any problems or issues with the tool.

MisterMV is a cool guy that helped the previous Crystals for Life Final Fantasy marathon some weeks ago. In the middle of a recent Final Fantasy 6 race, he encountered possibly the most effective npc block in history, where a wandering npc in the returners hideout got between the plot npc and Edgar. In doing so, fully softlocked the game since he couldn't move or interact whatsoever without having to reset. http://www.twitch.tv/mistermv/c/2352464

I didn't have anywhere else to put this. In GoldenEye 007 on the N64, DLTK (Dark Licence To Kill) mode is 007 mode with the worst possible settings: 100% enemy accuracy, 100% enemy reaction time, 1000% enemy health and 1000% enemy damage. In this scenario an enemy who shoots at you out in the open is guaranteed to immediately hit and kill you; meanwhile, enemies take around 9 head shots each to kill, and typically only drop 10 rounds of ammunition. Every level of GoldenEye had been beaten, except for one: Silo. Silo would be a very difficult level on DLTK just because of the number of enemies, but the real problem is that almost immediately after starting the level a self-destruct countdown is triggered, giving you a grand total of around 8 minutes and 34 seconds to complete all the objectives and get to the finish. For comparison, Train, a level with a similar number of enemies and no time limit, has been beaten by only three people, and the record is 29 minutes exactly. Now check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lv1h0b8j4C0
