Unless that started life as one of those terrifying rebuild/restoration cars, that thing is awesome start to finish.

I've seen a few bad cell phone pics of that thing but this is the first really good look. It goes all the way around the terrible dial and become hilariously awesome again. Does anyone know what the lettering says? The giant-scale fabric purse interior of the footwells is a nice touch.

So, I went to the kickoff of the Hot Rod Power Tour since it was practically next door. Had no excuse not to. Most of what I was saw was awesome, particularly since they are cars that are driven, not trailered or towed, but there were a few questionable examples. There's this: The placard claims it used to be an '80 Caprice. I love the expression on the kid in the background. Didn't catch that when I took the picture. Also forgot to take a picture of the back. Just as well, I bet. And then, as I was leaving - the bro-truck of bro-trucks: It may be hard to see it in the second pic, but it has an exhaust tip that's at least a foot in diameter. It's a diesel, of course. At least he wasn't running a smoke tune (at that moment.) I should have gotten a pivc end-on. It looked so tall and narrow, it should have just fallen over...

I looks like the owner was going for a hohloma effect. And failed miserably, which is a pity because hohloma can be really pretty.

I can't help but think that the CrossCabriolet is Nissan trying to recoup costs off of some hosed up unibodies or something. It reminds me of the time we had a really bad hail storm around here and for the next two years the Nissan dealership had carriage topped Altimas on deep, deep discount.

One of the local prosecutors up here drives a convertible murano, she bought it with her divorce settlement. I asked her if she leased it and she seemed to be super proud to own it and have it paid off. Trust me when i say the murano vert is even uglier with the top up & even uglier in white with a tan soft top. It's the worst car. I'm going to sue Nissan for raping my eyes.
