I got my travel orders today as well! When it comes to the foreign contacts part of the clearance process, my investigator stressed the COMBINATION of "CLOSE & CONTINUING" contact as the bar for deciding who to put down. Obviously you don't want to hide anything but at the same time you don't have to put down the guy you partied with for the month-long study abroad you had 3 years ago and haven't heard from again. I would love to see Diplomaticus's suicide box, if it's allowed.

Between a three week mother-in-law visit, VPOTUS, a trip to the Amazon and a garage sale starting tomorrow, all I want is a night enjoying a beer and doing absolutly nothing. Received word from housing this morning that our stay at Chateau Oakwoods has been extended out until 21 December to accommodate our consultation days (class is slated to end 13 Dec which is a Friday - not sure if that is good or bad?). And you want to know what sucks. Trying to sell a house. And a 30" tube tv.

Well I am retaking the FSOT because it's starting to look like my score isn't going to get me off the register this time around. Due to the small class sizes my position has been slowly but pretty steadily dropping. Should have done it sooner, if I make it through again, I may have to redo security and medical based on the time that's elapsed. Boo.

Street price on a tube TV today is you pay someone to haul it so you don't have to. Just recycled a 32" that's been in the family for 18 years. I remember every time I had to move it. We will probably still be here in Rosslyn Oakwood then. Flag Day for my wife is in a few weeks.

So what happens if I only get a class 2 medical clearance? I had some medical issues in the past which are now resolved and I'm not sure if that would mean I'd only get a class 2 clearance. Would I still be able to get into the FS as a generalist? I think I read somewhere that a few years ago a woman sued and won because she was HIV positive and had been denied entry into the FS. Also, what happens if a FSO or family member develops a medical condition after entering the FS?

I don't know about getting hired on with a class 2, but I can tell you what happens after your hired (or at least what happened in my family's case.) When there is a Class 2 then MED has to approve the posting. In my case they disallowed both our current post and my onward assignment. This left me having to leave post early and also scrambling for a new position that MED would approve of. It isn't the most convenient thing in the world and it can be stressful, but it's not the worst thing in the world either.

Tell her NYFO is the only way to go for her field office tour. The Specialist version of A-100 is 3 weeks long.

Once you are in, having a class 2 just makes your bidding process more of a hassle, as 1of7 points out. If you aren't in yet though, my understanding is that they won't give you an invite if you can't qualify for a Class 1.
