I've pretty much pegged her to snap and kill somebody at some point. Though I would actually love it if she was actually plotting to kill somebody, it would be much more interesting.

Her name is Tsumiki Mikan. And yes, we have already discussed extensively how some characters in DR2 are reminiscent of characters in DR1 in terms of appearance and or personality (Akane and Asahina, Sayaka and Sonia, Fukawa and Mikan, Junko and Nagito and so on) and it's a topic no one wants to revisit.

Unless something drastically changes in the next few updates, I think Nanami's a pretty safe bet to stay alive - they already killed off the most vocal and focused-on character in the last chapter in Togami and they won't want all of the storylines to work with in the next chapter to be one-dimensional ones like "Kuzuryuu hates everyone" or "Gundam's in his own world" - I'm kinda hoping Nidai's next, he just seems sort of shoehorned in so far. My best guess is that Nagito gets loose and either Nidai or Souda end up dead and Nagito's an obvious red herring again.

I doubt they'll let Nagito be a red herring again. The writers don't seem that lazy enough that they'll use the same roadblock for finding out who the killer is. If he's suspected again, then he'll probably be the killer.

Beautiful Days [Piano Arrange]

The least amount of votes went to Nanami. It's not difficult to figure out where she is.

I've never seen an arcade cabinet like the one in the park. I wonder if Monobear designed the hardware too...

What should I do? Should I spend time with Nanami?

Spend time / Go somewhere else

Sure. Let's take a break together.

I spent some time idling around with Nanami.

I think we got a little closer...

Should I give her a present?

Give / Do not give

Driving Nitro: A car simulator toy that was popular dozens of years ago. Its one unique feature is a "Nitro button". Pressing it makes wind blow out of the toy. It feels great.

How did you know that's exactly what I wanted?
I'm a little surprised you have that kind of power, Hinata-kun.

Thank you. That makes me very happy.

............

Is she sleeping again...?

Hey, if you're that tired, how about going back to your cottage and getting some proper sleep?

No... I don't often get to hang out with friends... so let's talk some more.

Besides, If I give up that easily, I’ll never be able to defeat the dreaded Warlock Lord.
It would be sad if my adventures ended here, you know.
I think you're still half asleep...

Huh...? I can't believe it... You didn’t get my Shadowgate reference?
Um... if you have the time, how about we go somewhere? I think taking a walk would wake you up.

An outing? ...If it's somewhere fun, okay.

Somewhere fun? Hmmm...

The supermarket / The airport / The park

How about we go to the park?

When I play games at the park... groups of kids always gather up around me...
Oh, that's right! There was this one game you could only play in sunlight. The difficulty level was far too high for adults and shut-ins.

Hmm... Maybe the park isn’t the best idea...

The supermarket / The airport / The park

Wanna go look around the airport?
The airport... But, I don't want to get caught in a shootout...
I get dizzy whenever I see an unskillful person playing an FPS...

...Let's look for another place.

The supermarket / The airport / The park

Wanna go check out the supermarket?

I like running over zombies with a skateboard or a wheelchair.
Chainsaws are the best, but I guess a motel would be more appropriate for them.
...So I guess that sounds fun. Let's go.

I... don’t really get what that has to do with this, but if she's interested I'll let it pass.

I took a leisurely walk with Nanami to the supermarket.

We didn't really need anything, so we just walked around, looking at the shelves.

...As expected from its size, the variety of goods on sale is incredible.
There’s a shelf of Christmas ornaments here next to a shelf of bamboo shoots for Tanabata eve. This place really has everything!

............
Hm? What's wrong, Nanami?
I wonder what these are. They're cute little candies.
Oh? The Hina-arare? Yeah, this place really does has everything.
Hmm... So they're called Hina-arare. I see.

Hina-arare are colored rice-puffs covered in sugar. They're a traditional sweet eaten on Hina Matsuri, AKA Girls' Day or the Doll Festival.

You know... you eat them on Hina Matsuri?

What's... "Hina Matsuri"?
Eh...?
You know... on March 3. You're a girl, aren't you? Your family must have celebrated...

............

...Oh, poo poo.

If she doesn't know what that is, there must be a reason for it, stupid.

Ah, I'm sorry... it's nothing. Just forget it...

I don't really mind.
I... had a family. A father.

She had a father? Past tense? So, what about her mother...?

...No... It’d probably be better not to inquire too deeply into this.

Hey... so what's Hina matsuri?
Um... March 3 is known as the peach festival, where we pray for the health and well-being of the girls in the family and decorate with doll displays.
We eat Hina-arare and three-colored mochi, and some other special food...

Hmmm... I see...

That's amazing. You sure know a lot, Hinata-kun.
No, I... really don't.

It would be too much to say everyone knows what Hina matsuri is, but...

But... under what kind of circumstances did she grow up that she never found out?

Going out on outings is fun. You can teach me all sorts of stuff, Hinata-kun.
...Let's go somewhere else next time?
Sure, we'll go somewhere else.

After promising to take her out again, we left the supermarket.

I should think about where else I can take her that would make her happy...

Hope Shard acquired

I walked Nanami all the way to her room, fearing she'd just go to sleep then and there if I left her somewhere else.

It's still light outside. The day's still long...

I should go somewhere... Spend some time with someone...

We have to find a way off this island. I am... neglecting my duties here.

What should I do? Should I spend time with Pekoyama?

Spend time / Go somewhere else

I was going to search the island one more time to make sure we didn't miss anything, but I don't mind if you tag along.

I spent time exploring the island with Pekoyama.

I think we became a little closer.

Should I give her a present?

Give / Do not give

Antique Doll: A ceramic doll, with a head made of porcelain. Its elaborate design and the beauty of its miniature clothes makes it popular with collectors even today.

I...Is that for me?!

Hinata... You...!

I shall never forget this kindness!

............
............

It's great that we're spending time together, but I can't think of anything to say...

So... you like kendo, Pekoyama?

I do.
............

T...That's all she has to say?!

Um... so does your family own a dojo or something?
...In a manner of speaking.
I...In a manner of speaking?

Do you find that objectionable?
N...No, I don't really mind... I was just asking.

She keeps shooting me that severe stare of hers... I get the feeling I should tread carefully here...

Um, what else can I ask? It has to be something harmless...

Oh, right! So, what's your ranking, Pekoyama?

...Are you talking about my Kendo ranking?
I... don't have one.
Huh?
Most practitioners of Kendo do indeed go up in rank in accordance with the number of years they've been training.
...But I don't need one.
Why not?
Isn't that the point? Y'know, going up in rank?

That is not the point of kendo for me. I was set on a different goal from the very beginning.
I protect those that should be protected, and cut those that should be cut.
That is the true way of the sword. The one I let guide me.

It is the very reason I exist.
Rankings governed by rules... mean nothing to me.

I see... So Peko Pekoyama isn't just your regular girl who does Kendo. She really is a "Super High-school Level Swordswoman"...

And I had to go and ask her about her ranking... That was really stupid of me.

I don't really know much about Kendo...
But I can say with confidence that was very cool. You're like a noble warrior or something.

V..."Very cool"...? You do say such strange things...!
T...That's the first time someone has said something like that...
Um... T...Thank y...

...Forget it.

That was... really awkward. Is she embarrassed?

............
But... I did lose some things, having chosen that road.
I have lost... some irreplaceable things. Warm things.
You lost... warm things?
...That fluffy fluffy feeling.
Fluffy... fluffy?

That warm, fluffy fluffy fur...
The kitties that came to play at the dojo, the puppy our neighbors had when I was a kid... even the sparrow I tried to raise...

The animals all sense the ferocity inside me and run away.
I just want to... touch that soft fur, those soft wings... Forever.
I...I see... Yeah, that must be tough...

That was a shock. When she said she lost something irreplaceable, I thought it would be much more serious.

Hey, why don’t you talk to Tanaka and ask to touch his hamsters?
I think he'd happily help you with your problem.
He probably knows ways to calm them down so they don't run away.

I see... That does make sense.
Besides, those hamsters are called the Four Dark Gods of Destruction...

With a name like that, they probably will not be afraid of me.
I shall go and find Tanaka. Now.

Her... her eyes...! Those poor hamsters... Maybe I shouldn’t have told her that...

Hinata. I thank you for your advice. Let's... talk some more, when we get the chance.
Farewell.

Pekoyama dashed away from the room. She must be really craving that fluffy fluffy fur...

But, I feel like the distance between me and her just shrunk a little bit.
I'm sure we'll be able to have a normal conversation next time.

Hope Shard acquired

Music fades out

* ding dong ding dong *

Um, This is an announcement from Hope's Peak Academy's Field Trip Executive Committee...
It is now 10pm.
Please rest peacefully, along with the soothing sound of the waves.
Well then, pleasant dreams. Goodnight...

............

Usually, that's where I'd go to sleep, but...

Dammit... I can’t help it. I'm too curious...!

It's not like Komaeda got to me, but I can't just leave that game alone...

"Twilight Syndrome Murder Mystery"...
I think I'll... go check it out, just a little bit. Just to see what it's like...

Re: Despair Syndrome

Huh? Where are you going at this time? Monobear already made his announcement...
No, I just... Wait, what are you doing out here?

I am on my way back to my cottage. But, what about you? You were just... what?
Um... You see...
I was just... feeling a little hungry, so I thought I'd go grab some dinner at the restaurant...

...Oh, I see.
So, um... I'll be going now. See you tomorrow.

Hinata-kun.
Huh?

...Good night. See you tomorrow.

Somehow... I have a feeling she saw right through me...

Hinata still seems unsure. Maybe we should have him stroll around the hotel before going on with his plan.

Heh heh heh...
Why are you laughing like that? It's a little creepy...

I can't help it! I just heard the most amazing thing!

Oops... Can't talk details yet... But I'll tell you later!

Well, I'm off to bed! See 'ya tomorrow!

..."The most amazing thing"? What's that all about?

Hinata... What are you doing out at this time?
U...Um... I just felt like coming out to watch the stars, so I'm taking a little walk.

Ku. I see!
Nothing good has happened since we came here, but the nature certainly is exquisite...

But try not to stay up too late. Lack of sleep can ruin your day!
Sure, I'll try not to.

Hinata. You're here just on time. There is something I want to ask you.
Ask me? What is it?

Well, not you specifically. I just want the opinion of a regular person.

Mu. Is this to do with what we talked about earlier?

What could Pekoyama have talked about with Nidai...?

The thing I want to ask is...
Nidai and me. Do we look like we're... "cosplaying" fighting game characters?
...Huh? Cosplaying?

I hear that often when I walk about town...
I hear them whisper, "He looks just like that fighter... He must be that judo-master from that game..."

I DON'T GET IT! I LOOK LIKE JUST LIKE A REGULAR COACH, DON’T I?!!

That's... not exactly right.

I had similar things happen to me.
One time, I was chased by a group of strange men carrying cameras... That was troubling.
So... how did you get rid of them?

I couldn't understand a thing they were saying, so I had no choice but to take some... violent measures.

...I have a feeling I shouldn't ask for any more details.

But, Pekoyama... We shouldn’t be asking Hinata about this.
It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. We are who we are!

You're... right. I apologize, Hinata. Please forget all about it.

...Ah, by the way, what are you doing here? Why are you out this late at night?
Um... I couldn't sleep, so I thought I'd go out for a walk...

I see. Well, be careful.
I do not believe anything dangerous is going to happen... But, it's best to be careful, just in case.

Heh... What brings you before me, human?

Hmph. No matter. I do not have the time to spare you... Instead, I will tell you one interesting story.

So which is it? Does he have time to spare or doesn't he?

Behold; this game machine.
Within it lies a "world" you humans with your lower intellect created, but...

Fwahahaha! It is but a joke! A pathetic joke!

You would be gods of your fictional worlds. And yet you can do nothing but mimic us.
Because, you see...

This world you cling to as your "reality" is just one of our game boards!
............

Heh heh heh... What's wrong? Is the truth too much for you?
............

Well, that sure was a waste of time.

It's bearible! Ibuki has just been through some bearassment!
...Bearassment?

Harassment by a bear! AKA, bearassment!
Thanks to that evening announcement Monobear made, the wonderful lyric Ibuki had in her head flew away and disappeared!

Ukyaa!! That was the best lyric in Ibuki's history! It gave Ibuki the shivers!
That's a huge loss to humanity as well! Why aren't you more shocked?!
Um... that's... unfortunate, I guess?

Question mark?!

Sigh... Hinassment on top of bearassment... Ibuki can't take it anymore. That's her limit.

She's going back to her cottage for some indecent sleep! That'll show you!!

...Hinassment. I think I know what that means.

Yo, Hinata. You look like you have some time. Wanna fight?
W...Why fight, all of a sudden?

Hm? Is that so strange? That's what you do when you have free time, isn't it?

Um... no? Who just... fights... in their free time?

I had some free time today but no fighting partner, so I went to check our dead classmates' cottages.
Togami and Hanamura? Why would you...?

Because, if I just left them alone, someone would probably come and loot them, right?
W...Who here would do such a thing?!

Couldn't enter, though. Both doors were tightly locked.
Locked?

Yeah. Seems like Monobear did it.

When I tried opening the doors, he appeared out of nowhere like he always does...
Then he muttered something complicated about how he had to do it so the system could function or something, so I...
W...Wait! I don't think I want to hear any more!

Really? Well, I'm going to bed, then.
See you tomorrow!

Okay, I think we've had enough strolling. Time to go.

Ah, Hinata...!
Koizumi... What are you doing here?

Um... Well, I was just...
............
Um... I wanted to take some pictures of the ocean at night.
The ocean at night...? That's dangerous, isn't it? You should be more careful.
Yeah, I know... See 'ya.

That was... more docile than usual.

Usually, I'd expect some kind of rant from her...

...I'm here.

If it seems to be getting too dangerous, I can always stop playing...

So... let's try this thing.

The best guy.
Woah, last thing I was expecting here was a Boktai reference. If Nanami wasn't my favorite character before, she sure as hell is now.

When she references a game you could only play in the sunlight, she's talking about a niche Gameboy Advance series called Boktai, done by Hideo Kojima of Metal Gear Solid fame. It had a couple of crossovers with Megaman Battle Network, so lots of people have at least heard about it.

Personally I'm a huge fan of this little series, and if memory serves the first of it's three games is getting a Let's Play right on these forums, so it's worth checking out.

As Nanami said, the game worked with a solar sensor that was necessary to beat bosses, which are all vampires. Besides that, it worked as a top-down action rpg with stealth elements, think Legend of Zelda crossed with MGS I guess?

Not much to do with the game itself, just thought I'd give people a little insight on this one particular reference. Nanami confirmed for having great taste. If she references Mother 3 sometime later I might die.

I hope Peko doesn't turn out to be another serial killer though. I had enough of that with Genocider.

By the way does anyone know who Nidai and Peko are referencing when they say people mistake them for fighting game characters? The only one that rings a bell to me for Nidai is Jotaro Kujo but he's not a grappler and I doubt he would be associated with a fighting game first instead of manga anyway. I cannot think of a single thing for Peko since there are a handful of girls in fighters that look like her.

Interesting. Both Asahina and Togami survived until the end of the game. Mondo didn't, but the conversation where Mondo was mentioned took place with Chihiro, who died right before Mondo, so the conversation couldn't have taken place after Mondo was dead anyway.

The game Chiaki mentions when going to the mall is almost certainly Dead Rising, but the other one with the sun might be a little more obscure; Boktai. It was a GBA game (Later with a DS installment) where you fought vampires. There's a solar sensor in the game pak that'd make the game easier, by having places where you could kill enemies (By dragging their corpses into the sun) or stand in to recharge your ammo. :eng101:

There was also Chihiro's last free time event, where she asks for someone to train with to get stronger and Naegi suggests Mondo.

Here's hoping the next murder isn't Peko getting killed by Gundam because she just wanted to play with some fuzzy creatures, then.

...Oh, poo poo.

I have no idea why but this is probably one of the most hilarious moments of the game so far(at least for me). Also, I can't believe Hinata is actually going to play the game. If it was Naegi he probably wouldn't do it, so bonus points for Hinata for getting motivation for murder! I wonder how its gonna be like since its supposed to be a motivator for murder.

Does this look like the face of mercy, kupo?

I wasn't expecting that sort of expression out of Peko. Clearly not the emotionless robot we were thinking of.

I'm really glad we got to see that free time. It was endearing.

So, does that mean the airport quip about shootouts and FPS games is a reference to that one Call of Duty level? I don't really know anything about the series but I do recall hearing about a level in which you gun down an airport.

Yeah, it's probably a reference to "No Russians", the opening stage of COD: Modern Warfare 2.

She seems to be rather awkward, nervous and embarrassed about a lot of things. Though nothing compared to Tsumiki who is just a wreck.

Now that I mentioned Tsumiki I noticed she Kuzuryuu and Saionji did not show up.

What do you mean electrolytes aren't used for brewing booze? That's silly!

For those of you who are curious about the Boktai game Nanami referenced: There happens to be an LP of Boktai 2 on-going right now.
