If I ask what games are coming out soon, I'll be told the same thing since the system came out (Pikmin, Rayman, Wonderful 101 etc) and now we know a Mario, Smash Bros and whatever else is announced at E3, which in my opinion isn't much as I could have told you those games would come out.

But now I'm hearing from developers that they're skipping the system and I'm buying such gems as Jeopardy because it'll give the WiiU some play while I realize its been 8 months. 8 months! There's literally no excuse now.

You can't get the 3D effect won't happen with 3D TVs being not too popular yet (and I'm not sure if the 3D effect is the same). Now a DS player, that could happen.

There's still the issue of the games that require attention on both screens simultaneously, or continuous screens in some cases. Then again the demo stations at trade shows just mirror the whole thing don't they? But I guess that's more for spectators than the player in those cases.

On the contrary, why waste money by selling it then re-buying it to play the inevitable Nintendo games?

Unless you have no interest in Nintendo games, in which case why are you even looking in the direction of the Wii U? It exists solely to deliver first party Nintendo goodness directly (in)to you(r brain). Anything else is just a bonus.

And then you run into the sunk cost fallacy. Selling it for less than you paid for it or waiting until something you want for it comes out are equally unpleasant options even though nothing you can do is getting you that $300 back.

You must think I've been trolling. I'm not. I wanted the system to do well - hence me buying it. The initial games were decent enough. Now there's a few more months till the Wii U's birthday and guess what - I have the same games.

I'm not selling it because its going to have a Mario game, and hopefully other first party titles that I can only get on Nintendo.

I'm mad because there's absolutely gently caress all in their lineup even though its been close to a year old. Their only job is to make games and systems. That's it. They repeated history again with an extremely underpowered system that developers do not like. Unless they do something drastic, this will be the previous gen all over again - great first party titles that come out once a year, and garbage throwaway titles that either try to emulate current gen consoles (and fail) or general shovel ware.

I tried to stay strong during the initial launch when I didn't think the system was worth the money but Luigi DLC... I can't take much more of this!

If you buy a console in its first year, especially at launch? You're an idiot.

I'm a multi-time idiot, just to be clear.

I mean, I know this generation is a bit different than when the Wii came out since there were still some good Gamecube games to pick up that you could play on the Wii while most of us have exhausted the Wii library a long time ago when the Wii U was released but still.

It's always smarted to wait at least a year, sometimes two years before adopting. That way you have a good sized library to catch up on. But hey, everyone wants to be cutting edge with... not cutting edge technology so I can see the drive to be early.

I don't know where this stupid myth comes from. It's pretty simple: SOME consoles sell at a loss. SOME don't.

Of Nintendo consoles, the Gamecube, Wii U, and 3DS have all sold for a loss, though the 3DS was only selling for a loss after its initial price cut.

I don't plow through games quickly - saying to wait up to two years before buying hardware is smarter makes absolutely no sense.

I'm not looking for consistent smash hits every 30 days, but something with a lot more substance than Nintendo is giving.

I also think them focusing on releasing old-as-poo poo NES roms instead of focusing on their new device that's about to get competition makes no sense.

I don't think anyone should be an "idiot", as you put it, to buy a console in the first year, because I have and it sometimes pays off. Nintendo 64 had a loving awesome launch, Dreamcast did too, and the WiiU got the 90th iteration of New Super Mario Brothers with a really lame gimmick for the controller and didn't allow it to control your guy in multiplayer.

This isn't always true. I sold a 3DS last year for about the same amount that I will be picking up a 3DSXL this month. I just didn't have time for it back then.

That said, if we get a 3d Mario, Smash Brothers U, Windwaker HD, Mario Kart U, and Pikmin 3 in 2013, Nintendo will have totally beaten their previous track record of getting games out, and a few years from now, most people will remember the Wii U is having an awesome library right off the bat.

Big E3/Nintendo Direct games bets:

- Pikmin (August)
- The Wonderful 101 (September)
- Wind Waker HD (November)
- Watch Dogs (November)
- Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag (November)
- Mario Kart U Bundle(Holiday 2013)
- Mario U (Winter)
- Some screenshots of Smash Bros. U and Zelda U, or maybe just title cards.

Hopefully we get some surprises. Some multiplatform ports to strengthen the Wii U's library would help, like Destiny*, Call of Duty: Ghosts, the new Wolfenstein, The Witcher 3 and Thief. Some sort of show that Nintendo intends on the Wii U being viable in the next-generation like it was supposed to be.

(*the chances of Destiny coming to Wii U are about 0.00%, but still)
