Are we restricted to player kits?

New Champions League referee shirts. In my reasoned opinion these are ugly and bad.

Usually the teams have a say in matters, but it also depends on the deal. Reportedly United signed away more of their control than, say, Arsenal, but at a much higher value per season on the contract.

I would guess its a combination of "we're going to design these style new shirts and they let us make kits that look like this" along with "here's our idea of how the club should look," be that from tradition or the way the management want it to go in the future (see Cardiff's identity change).

As to who's really to blame for some of these kits? Hard to tell. I've heard stories in other sports about the teams wanting things to be uglier than they turned out, yet Nike still gets all the blame when the public show them. It's hard to know without more inside info.

Also, there's a reason the smaller clubs look like they're getting team wear or nothing unique: that's reserved for the big clubs. Sorry, but it's how it works now. And with uniform designs being so identifiable to a specific year, it's only gotten worse.

Well, when you're £117M in debt, you don't get to make charitable donations in lieu of profit opportunities.

Away kit is boss, gray GK kit is boss, I'm getting both.

Atropates ruled over the region of Atropatene (present Iranian Azerbaijan). The name "Atropates" itself is the Greek transliteration of an Old Iranian, probably Median, compounded name with the meaning "Protected by the (Holy) Fire" or "The Land of the (Holy) Fire".[33] The Greek name is mentioned by Diodorus Siculus and Strabo. Over the span of millennia the name evolved to Āturpātākān then to Ādharbādhagān, Ādharbāyagān, Āzarbāydjān and present-day Azerbaijan. The word is translatable as "The Treasury" and "The Treasurer" of fire or "The Land of the Fire"[33] in Modern Persian.[34]

Great kits. GJ Atleti/Nike.

I hate that our kits never come out till early July. But the rumour is we've got a Man City style red and black striped away kit rather than the green and yellow everyone wants. I really liked that kit when City had it so IDK. We'll have to wait and see.
