I didn't like Hinzerhaus and Aexe Cardinal because they were disconnected from the Saint storyline Abnett had been building. Straight Silver was in the middle of two books that were about the Saint and it only had a minor piece with the old Sister of Battle. Only in Death wasn't very interesting to me because it just wasn't that engaging. But I liked it much better the second time after I read Blood Pact because then I had more information, that said I still think it's a weak book because Hinzerhaus just isn't interesting. It's a haunted house in a desert and a lot of Ghosts get killed.

Abnett is a brilliant author though and my omnibusses are all super worn out because I've read through all of them several times and I love every aspect of it. While some of the books were weak individually they become much stronger once you put them into context of the whole Sabbat Crusade.

Edit: My point is that Hinzerhaus and Aexe Cardinal are poor stories to adapt to the big screen. Especially if the series starts with Vervunhive because Vervunhive is just so epic. Any Gaunt's Ghosts movie that follows Vervunhive is going to disappoint a casual viewer because they're much smaller battlegrounds.

Sadly it seems GW doesn't want to have any video games where Space Marines aren't playable characters. This wouldn't be such a huge issue to me though if it wasn't for the fact that in every game Space Marines are boring, they always downplay the differences between chapters and go for generic big guy with a gun.

Abnett really fleshed out the Space Wolves in such an amazing way with Prospero Burns and I would just love some indepth RPG's or adventure games that deal with those issues instead of endless RTS games and shooters.
You sound like you're scapegoating Games Workshop for everything lacking in the Hammerland. A possibility is that Warhammer isn't that popular. Games Workshop's revenues were only £131 million in 2011. If there are "millions" of fans out there, I think that figure ought to be bigger.

Just how many fans are out there? Do they even have a rough estimate?

Their business practices are kind of poo poo, and they don't license things out. Seriously, get a weekly comic going, people would eat that poo poo up.

Which is weird, because their financial reports call out licensing revenue as a big chunk of their profits, about 30% a year. I'd expect them to be looking to increase that revenue, but the report seems pretty offhand about the millions of extra dollars they got.

Even if the Kal Jericho stuff was more Gangster Lasporn. Even if there was the adventure he went out with his Inquisitor Mom and faced some Necrons.

I wonder if the Titan comic would count as mega bolter porn or not? :v:

I am still really miffed that they still haven't even considered releasing all their old Warhammer monthly stuff in digital format as there are still a bunch of comics they still haven't actually collected anywhere.

Finished Pariah, it was awesome and it took me awhile to realize what exactly was going on which made it so much better.

I am confused about a few things:

- Why did Nayl go back to Eisenhorn? He seemed pretty happy with Ravenor i more or less thought.
- The book continues the Name giving control thing, ADB started (i think). If that is true why couldn't the enemy just get control of Eisenhorn/Ravenor since their names are pretty public knowledge?
- I am guessing this comes into play during the next book, but why does the girl have the same name as Bequin? Is she supposed to be a clone created from Bequin's corpse? Better yet, how did Ravenor/Eisenhorn even know she existed?

Trying to decide between re-reading Gaunts Ghosts since i only read upto book 4-5 (Not sure, I the last one i read was them defending an ancient alien fortress, i remember water being a scarce-resource). Night Lords, or Brotherhood of the Snake? Any suggestions.

Look up the Inquisitor Ascendant comics. I can't remember, but I think there were three parts to it. The first dealing with Chaos taint and the next one or two dealing with his Interrogator trying to track him down.

And for what it's worth, there was a rogue trader in the Bloodquest series. Though such a minor role shouldn't even count.

Cross Aeon Flux' R-rating and ultraviolence with The Clone Wars' Band of Brothers in space approach in a 40K series and you'd make bank. The opportunities for developing the brand are phenomenal. As long as you don't gently caress with the core tenets of the setting, GW has always played the continuity a little loose. After all, it's a big universe. There's such scope for putting awesomeness on the screen that it's just sad every year when they don't start a media project.

- Nayl quits at the end of Ravenor and goes into semi-retirement.

- You can play the concept of "True Names" a lot of different ways. For instance, knowing the name "Eisenhorn" and knowing the exact way and intention and mystic significance you have to put behind it for it to have effect might be different things. Or not. I guess we'll see.

- She's a clone. They say so in the book.

It's mentioned in pretty much everything involving them?

Blood Ravens were created specifically for the Dawn of War games and pretty much every game they're in has some more specific information about it, but basically they have a LOT more Librarians per normal marine than basically any other chapter, so many that a large portion of the command structure are Librarians.

This is mentioned all over the place in the Dawn of War games and in their official info on the GW website, etc. The Dawn of War games are all "canon", but the idea of canon is pretty murky in Warhammer anyway since pretty much anyone they officially allow to produce stuff is going to be making canon material. The Warhammer universe is big enough that most things don't affect each other and even if something directly contradicts something else it can usually be explained away as something warp related.

e: here's the official thing on the Blood Ravens from a version of the GW website before it was literally just a store: http://web.archive.org/web/20070209...lood-ravens.pdf

Because Steve Parker is a loving hack who can't leave such poo poo up to the imagination, no; he has to go and get all rapey and have characters act like idiots so he can have a character get raped by mind controlling aliens.
Fucker. The interplay between Marines of different chapters in the stuff that focuses on the Deathwatch proper is actually interesting though, so I'm going to finish the book, but I'm not going to buy another one by him.
