There's also SubFM which was probably one of the first internet radio stations I can remember listening too. Well that played this type of music anyway. Most of the others like Rinse and Deja were proper pirates originally.

Actually in some slightly unrelated news (though not so unrelated giving how a lot of the original rave guys were originally Hip-Hop heads), Tru Thoughts has released an expanded edition of London Posse's one and only album. All the original Island release + a whole bunch of later tunes. Now I know that's Rap - and UK Rap at that - but they were one of the first UK group to actually sound like they were from here with not a single faux-American accent in sight.

I don't know how you could tire of Rinse! In any case, I * love * NTS radio:

MartyParty is awesome. I've seen him a couple times - once in Austin as half of PantyRaid (the other half being Ooah of the Glitch Mob) and once at Houston's Gritsy 5 or 6 year party, opening for Mala. Actually got to hang out with him since I promoted for Gritsy for a while, super cool guy, and when he gets on the tables, drat does he throw down.

Swindle's always had that jazz element to his stuff, but I think he's veering too far in that direction lately for my liking. That Airmiles VIP was nice, though.

I mean to be fair when you call an album Long Live The Jazz...

Anyway this trailer for an upcoming UKG documentary has actually got me interested. I'd normally write these kind of things off as half the time they just gloss over the details, and only feature a couple of more famous heads talking about very little. You may have well just read the Wiki entry. But judging from who they actually have got speaking in the trailer, it's got me keeping an eye out.

An actual release date is also a shock. Was it Dub Echoes that seemed to stall for years and years? Eventually appearing when nobody really cared too much anymore, which was a shame.

I don't think that there's such a thing as "too far" when it comes to Jazz, since that's the nature of Jazz. It took me a second to warm up to "Long Live the Jazz," but now that I can wrap my head around it, I'm blown away.

The Dutch-run https://intergalacticfm.com/ is really good. Nice variety of programming and a lot of interesting stuff playing there. Not a whole lot of dubstep though if you're into that.

I believe he's a classically trained jazz artist, so no surprise there. I don't mind the jazzy vibe he has, but I'm not too big on "Long Live the Jazz", there are a few choice moments like "Forest Funk" and "Keep Me Warm", but I found the album a bit lackluster. It's still alright, but maybe my disappointment comes from the fact I've heard so many of these tunes so many times I've just lost interest.

Does anyone know what exactly happened with Black Box and Author? I would really hate to see this project go away; IMO it's one of the best things to happen to dubstep recently.

Honestly judging from twitter etc it sounds like Black Box simply hosed it up regarding promotion and distribution (I'd imagine a good dollop of zero communication on top of that). I didn't even know anything about it for instance, which is pretty unusual for me. In this day and age you just can't do that. Does seem odd though as Black Box are normally fairly on the ball about that kind of thing.

Haven't seen anyone mention the fact that Slackk has been absolutely killing it lately. Dude has been around for a long time and used to run grimetapes. He is doing a great job of pushing some new sounds, which is very refreshing thing. He's been putting out monthly mixes since February and they are all worth checking out. The May and June mixes are still up on his soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/slackk

He's played on Rinse twice over the last month and has absolutely killed it both times. Nice change of pace from the stuff normally on Rinse.

I always thought it was her own or something actually, as it's pretty clean and I can't place them. Definitely very old school feeling lyrical-wise, threw me off too. Still does actually, as everytime I hear it my mind flicks through old records trying to place it. Wouldn't be surprised if I'm wrong.

Seriously, what the gently caress is Zomby's problem? Basically ALL of his best stuff are tracks that are under 2 minutes. Is he able to come up with really great segments but unable to figure out what to do to flesh them out? How about you don't releases a 2xLP with 33 tracks and instead maybe work to consolidate.
