Alright then. Thanks for the information. I guess I will start shopping around. So what's the story behind Knight Owl Haven and Kar Von Gar?

Knight Owl Haven invites anyone with a pulse and is generally full of people that will make you stab your eyes out if you group with them.

Kar Von Gar is mostly blacklisted by the server due to some of their people being fond of training, camp stealing, etc.

You're welcome to join Luclin Redux - like Kodaji said, it's primarily a guild for old Luclin server veterans, but we've got a few goons in there besides me. As long as you're not a shithead nobody's going to care if you're not actually from Luclin. Activity level varies but there's usually 10-15 unique players on during the evenings - more on the weekends. Think we had around 25ish on Saturday. About half the guild is currently doing the ZOMG MUST LEVEL thing and I expect them to burn out and quit like almost everyone does that tries doing that, but the other half is actively doing older progression stuff and actually seeing the content.

That pretty much sums it up, yeah. Knight Owl Haven also, at one point, had Gluuvian (single most obnoxious person ever to play the game) though I think they kicked him out eventually. KVG's officers include Taenios and his BFF Wanananrnarnarnarnarna. Taenios is a raging, creepy as gently caress alcoholic who will drunkenly train your group for hours at a time while spamming general chat with creepy spergin' flirting any time a "girl" is talking.

If you have to pick one, I'd say join KOH over KVG just because one's annoying and the other is both annoying AND malicious, but mostly just don't subject yourself to joining either one

So whoever said they quit their zerker was right, it's way too much for me to enjoy playing. Decided to just go with an SK since I played one years ago and remember how to swarm.

I don't remember though what augs to go for? Heroic sta? Agi? Does it depend on if I'm group tanking or just swarming?

Fields of glory shine eternal

Here's a decent list. HDex => HAgi > HSta, but those don't come in high enough values to make a huge difference, so people tend to focus on AC and take HDex and HAgi as it comes.

The current high end tank aug list is hdex focused, with all the augs also haviing good ac. Plus the good high ac multi-heroic augs, then high ac 8 hagi augs. Pure ac and random heroics augs are fine fillers, but are not the goal of a tank aug set. The pay off from each tier of 25 hdex is so much better than any other heroic that it is very worth focusing on.

Exactly what Illa said. Also, that Evilgamer list is, sadly, extremely outdated.

http://augs.eqresource.com/augsearch.php

Go there, sort by AC then hDex. Go down the list picking up every aug listed until you're out of slots. A few you'll have to skip as you can't get them right now, but otherwise there's a solid list. 5 or 6ish slots you'll want to put the highest hAgi aug in instead of a much lower AC/hDex aug, but hDex > hAgi. Every other heroic should NEVER be geared for as a tank. This goes double for SKs because the hDex adds proc rate for our lifetaps.

Until you hit RoF, you're going to be somewhat starved for hDex augs because VoA was extremely showered in hAgi instead. My aug set basically mirrors the hDex sorted list down to Tarnished Stone, then stops and swaps to hAgi list down through Incarnadine. Keep a couple extra each of the hDex/hAgi augs you're not using, since heroics only help in batches of 25. Depending on gear upgrades and such, you're sometimes better off swapping one out for the other at times to hit the next breakpoint.

With only group gear and the choicest set of augs, you should be hitting around 250/275 dex and 225/250 agi. Raid geared puts you up around 325/300 or even 350/300 with Trib running. Neither requires sacrificing a single point of AC if you aug properly.

That's exactly what I did for the zerker, using that site and going by hDex and AC, ran out of ones so I could find so have a few hAgi / AC. So I guess I can just transfer all the zerker's augs to the SK.

Now my problem is, I may or may not have gone a little too crazy with the krono flipping and now have about 45 million plat on FV but not sure of the best way to spend it. I think I can buy T1 raid visibles/nonvisibles for around 1-1.5m each but I'm not sure if this is worth it. I already have a Snowreaver. 45m is apparently a lot but I don't want to just flush it down the toilet for cost prohibitive stuff. Any ideas?

Well a couple months ago my SK was in all group gear, went from that to a VoA set, and I'm in the midst of upgrading to RoF T1 now and every tier jump is a HUGE increase. That said, if you're not planning on raiding, the VoA set is still massive overkill for tanking group content and it's probably way cheaper on FV. I'm betting a set of VoA Stately is going to be peanuts compared to Gelid and it'll still put you right around 9k unbuffed. That's snooze-level territory for tanking even RoF T3 group mobs.

Make sure to buy the best possible shield you can and pick up a good 1her. Also a Dislodged Diamond of Blood aug for the shield I think is still the best you can get. Shield alone doubles your survivability over a 2her

Keep an eye on Crystallized Fear and Shadowstones in the Bazaar. Sometimes the prices dip pretty low and you can get a steal on T2-3 raid currency.

Edit - nm, found your team's composition. I have no idea. With a 95 War/Monk/Sham/Bard/Druid all in RoF gear you should be having zero trouble unless you're really, really low on AAs. Your dps is kinda low with that team, but between the druid and sham you should have plenty of healing power to see the fights through.

I'm with Flare, that's not even the "hard" part of VoA yet. What part are you having trouble with? You know you're not supposed to be tanking Avatar until the end, right? Just have the monk shoot him with arrows one at a time til you have like 12ish shards, loot em on war and bard and druid, do the carts at bottom, run druid to the top and do the catapult thing, have druid nuke the flaming missiles til the tower's in the right spot, then beat the hell out of Avatar. If you screw up hiding behind the wall or get people hit by the frontal AE, you screwed up the event and it's not the mission difficulty killing you. He only hits for like 18k with no disc at all running so final stand should be more than enough to turn his DPS into nothing.

I'm betting you're screwing event mechanics up honestly, cause that's one of the easier VoA missions

Well, I'll go give it another shot. I think I must be having a problem with positioning. He is standing in a pool of water, and that was making it very hard to hit. It didn't help that he is rooted, so the time spent moving everyone into position kinda screwed me from the start. I think this time I'll try having everyone set before I move the tower into position and activate him.

Here is the warriors magelo, he has the lowest AA in the group, and I just finished off filling his aug slots. http://eq.magelo.com/profile/2490357

They're a progression guild in PoR and hardcore recruiting right now. They suffered when they hit PoR (hard) content, most of the leadership bailed, then a buncha members left to level up and raid with Blackburrow, so they're scaling back and relaxing for a bit while they recruit some new members. Everybody in the guild I've ever met is super chill and great players. They were raiding like 5-6 nights a week for the last few months or so, but they slowed down a lot now and are probably a blast to play with currently.

SK Slot 3 augs: They don't stack because they're Lore, so you can only have one of each anyway. SK gets enough slot 3 spots once all your armor has them that you don't really have to choose even though that IS where the dodge aug goes too. Spear and Taps are the only REALLY awesome SK ones, so you can use whatever else sounds good to you after.

I'm not familiar with SK's enough to know but I think Nimbus of Frost (seasonal SC item) is a 10 pt shield that stacks with most everything. It's a slot 9. Keep an eye out for it in Nov-Dec. It's only like 200 SC.

Edited version of chart from http://www.evilgamer.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1549 Bold are long duration buffs

DS Slot 01:Druid and Mage DS
DS Slot 02:Illusionary Spikes / Potion
DS Slot 03:Zombie Skin (sk self buff)
DS Slot 04:Storm Guard(Stormeye Band)

DS Slot 05:Surge of Spineburrs (druid buff)
DS Slot 06:Drape of the Fallen (sk self buff)
DS Slot 08:Convergence of Spirits(druid AA)
DS Slot 07:Scourge Skin(sk AA)
DS Slot 09:Nimbus of Frost(nimbus)
DS Slot 10:Stemfang (druid buff)
DS Slot 11:Third Spire of Elements(mage AA)
DS Slot 12:Infernal Skin (mage buff)

The slot 4 DS is the most unique one from clickies. Most clickies are slot 1 or 2. Some other classes use slot 3 on their own self buffs, so clickie versions of those will conflict with Zombie skin.

All fixed with the SoF content release. Use the best 1h or 2h weapon you can find for tanking and dps respectively.

2h piercing weapons wouldn't work any of the knight AAs that affected 2h weapons, because 2h piercing was hacked in by using Piercing weapons that blocked the off-hand slot. Now 1hp and 2hp are separate skills so each can be affected by 1h and 2h AAs appropriately. 1hp weapons always worked with shield specialist, because that AA boosts damage if you have a shield equipped in your off-hand.

I have a couple of questions. I've been debating trying this again, I kinda fizzled out when I started last time because it was apparently during the death of the goon guild on Luclin.

I've got a couple of characters in very low level stages (mid 20s) on Luclin, and copied to test. I'm debating if I should start back up. A few things interest me:

I've thought about taking my 2 out to 4-5 and building a boxing group for myself and leveling them all up together. Is there any reason I should not do this? Is ISBoxer+MacroQuest 2 the best way to go about it? If so, can someone point to some guides on kind of "quick starting" the setup? I got ISBoxer set up pretty easily, but the MQ documentation for the macros is very verbose, seemingly intended for people already 80+ with way more functionality than I think I need. It's hard to sort out the kind of minimal set I need to get a group up and running.

Another question is, should I do the leveling on Luclin before copying them to test? Or should I just say gently caress it and level them up on test?

Yeah, that's what makes it so appealing. The flip side of course is that if I do the level grind over on Luclin, I can always /testcopy them back over should anything odd happen. I don't know that anything odd ever happens these days though.
