Episode 48, that story about the 29 year old man who cloaks himself as a 12 year old boy, and fucks a 61 y/o man.
When the truth was revealed, the 61 year old was "very upset". I've been going through the old episodes again, they are so good.

This is probably the worst post ever on the internet, but where the hell can I find the earliest episodes? I get that I can navigate through the notes archive, but there's no Listen button, and I tried going around that wiki but I have no idea what I'm doing.
Do I have to use itunes or something like that?

It will probably have to be on 379, since it only happened last night, maybe Seth will mention it this week. I loved his rant on how that guy had to wear a safety harness last time.

It's just two dudes straight talkin'. With Laveern and Shneer.

YouTube clips are usually the best, Craigs House segments are a good introduction to the group. If they're not into Craigs House, then UYD probably isn't their thing.

It's really weird how first impressions are every thing. I remember skimming the thread titles looking for new things to listen too.

I just skipped UYD because I looked and the "no gay poo poo" in the title and took that out of context.

I downloaded an episode of smodcastle (or what ever it's called). This was around the time of the unrest in egypt. The episode started with them talking about loving fleshlights and how one of the guys ones was running out.

They then discussed how they had no idea where egypt was how 'funny' that was. I just thought "yep that's enough of that".

One of the things that always makes me laugh is that crazy happy go lucky laugh that Seth does when he's portraying someone having an awesome time, or when they're oblivious to something crazy and going about their way. I'm laughing a little right now just thinking about it. I wanna make a mix of all the times he does it, but how the hell do you even start looking for that besides just listening to every episode

I wonder if something's wrong with me because I find a lot of what I think Seth espouses on UYD-living life in a fearful, self-centered way, suspicious and critical of unknown things and dangerous situations-to be right up my alley in terms of overall guiding life principles. Is that bad? I think I'm the wrong age and have the wrong amount of crazy life experience to have that kind of attitude about everything.

But what is unquestionably valid is their opinions on things like dudes hitting on girls, old celebrities (and olds in general), the internet, et cetera. I think they really are on point with their attitude towards modern culture.

Well, I just meant I don't think he's right about everything, I definitely think they're at their best when they're breaking down the truly bananas parts of life. He and Jonathan are certainly right about some things, and they're funny a lot of the time. I just don't view Seth as a virtual life-coach. I've been enjoying it, though. I just don't think Seth has it all figured out the way some do. And it seems like people are saying it's satire while acting like everything he says is so on point in a legitimate way, but that's not my problem. In fact, that's why I brought up my thoughts on Seth in the first place, I was trying to feel out if one is supposed to agree with Seth on everything, or just find him funny.

He definitely knows what he's talking about when it comes to that kind of thing, I was in hysterics in his praise of the male decoy in TCAP. It's hilarious to me that he understands boner rage so well that he knows what would drive both gay and straight peeds crazy.

I think it's pretty easy to tell when he's joking, venting/exaggerating, or trying to be sincere too. From what I gather about his preparation and feelings for the show, I think Seth is only attempting to be as funny as possible. That said, I personally think he's cool as hell; I hope I'm as well-adjusted (this may not be an apt description of him though?) as him when I'm 40. Like, the interview with Marc Maron put Seth and him in sharp relief. Maron has a wretched empty insincere old life, from what I can tell.

The stuff of nightmares
Seth is the best, but if you look at him, he's a crazy rear end dude. It takes someone obsessive as him to do the amount of pure pre-pro that makes this show so good. To criticize an actress for never hearing of Jersey shore, then talk about his refusal to have an email address ever. He's just so up front about his neuroses that you don't really think of him as weird as he is.

Plus, Jonathan rationalizes his hosed up tendencies because he knows he's a tool sometimes, but even that's ok because he was basically the worst kid ever. The epitome of a shithead actors kid, but holy poo poo it's hilarious.

However, Seth is a fellow Dallas fan, so maybe he has the world more figured out than any of us

Loneliest Whale
Aug 5, 2012
Seth's a crazy-rear end dude, no doubt about it, but I think he's playing up the crazy in the interest of making an entertaining podcast. He's always quick to remind the listener that he doesn't have an email address, he's not on the 'Book, doesn't gently caress with cell phones, afraid of LASIK etc. etc. It all paints a picture of this wacky out-there dude who's comically out-of-touch with modern society, and then they slide in a joke about doing an AMA on Reddit or putting up a Kickstarter and suddenly you realize that the two probably just lead pretty normal lives as pretty normal (albeit certainly interesting) dudes. They're playing up their own wacky characters on the podcast so they can play off each other, and it totally works. That's the picture I get, anyway.

I haven't listened to the new episode yet but I saw the intro and outro are both from Tomorrow's Harvest, and that's loving awesome. They never even acknowledge it, but the music on the show is just consistently great. Nearly every episode I end up looking up the artist from the intro/outro and listening to the rest of their stuff, and a huge number of the artists I listen to regularly I heard on UYD first. I dunno, maybe I'm weird but it's one of the best parts of the whole production for me and they never even mention it in the show itself.
