Rush is now suggesting that Obama is intentionally sabotaging the economy so that it will be more likely for businesses to hire the influx of low-skill, low-wage illegal immigrants he wanted to bring in.

Hahahaha apparently Anthony Weiner (the former Congressperson guy who got caught sending dickpics to people) is leading the NYC mayoral race and Rush just made the best (unintentional, I think, because he didn't sound like he was joking and I've never heard of him doing any kind of deadpan joke) cock joke. "How does Weiner stay up like this?! He's penetrating the public consciousness!" Now he's talking about how we're headed towards a one party system. It's like he almost gets that the Republican party is horribly, intrinsically boned if they don't do some actual rebuilding or somehow miraculously reverse current demographic trends. So I just realized that I apparently never unsubscribed from the @GOP_Tears twitter list somebody made on election night. Currently reading a torrent of David Limbaugh tweets accusing Obama of waging a "War on Coal" and destroying a whole industry "for sport," claiming there is no issue on which conservatives won't "cave under pressure," and then lamenting that conservatives can't get their morally superior views heard because they have to "prove we aren't ogres before entering debate on all issues." Edit: Also, @pbolyard 1h CHRISTIANS GET READY-->> Scalia: Court imposed change by adjudging those who oppose it enemies of the human race. #DOMA

On a related note, anyone have any awesome local crazies I should be listening to today? They're always a lot more entertaining on these things than the big national personalities. I have the I heart radio app on my phone so I can listen to most anything. I just need the area and station name. E: Medved, very Jewish creationist currently broadcasting live from Israel, is currently freaking the gently caress out over both Texas and prop 8 Good Citizen fucked around with this message at 20:16 on Jun 26, 2013 |

He's really, really bad, even by right wing radio standards.

I live in Pennsylvania and the "War on Coal" thing is loving everywhere here because I guess the state still mines and/or burns coal? I have no loving idea. Anyway, there were piles of people demanding that we "de-elect" or "fire" Obama to stop the WAR ON COAL!!!! THINK OF ALLLLL THE JOOOOOOOOBBBBBBSSSSSSSSZZZZZZZZZ Whenever people pointed out that, you know, coal burning is literally the most polluting form of electricity and there are a ton of perfectly valid reasons to quit burning coal the responses would be things like "but wind turbines kill birds" and "but solar power is more damaging than coal." Like seriously. There are people that believe that coal power is the least environmentally damaging form of power. Ignore the massive amounts of smoke the plants spew out, go ahead and ignore coal tar, let's just forget about the land that has been completely ruined by coal leftovers for the forseeable future coal power creates like 50 jobs and we must save them. edit: I went look for something I can't find. Kind of wish I bookmarked it but there was a website that was vehemently defending the use of goal with a typical right wing total lack of information or connection to reality. They argued that "coal was basically just solar power anyway." ToxicSlurpee fucked around with this message at 20:30 on Jun 26, 2013 |

No mention of the VEA today. It would not fit the narrative of a hypocritical Roberts' Court out to undo popular opinion (doma) in one breath while bending over backwards to support popular opinion (Obamacare) in the other. Yes he actually went down this path at one point in his tirade.

ToxicSlurpee posted:stuff about coal Well that's the thing, right? People are totally justified in worrying about putting coal industry workers out of jobs, which is why a sane country would put policies in place to support and retrain the displaced workers so they can make a living. Maybe they can even be retrained to operate the solar/nuclear/wind energy facilities that replace the old power plants! Or poo poo, we could just give them a fat pension and congratulate them on their early retirement. But that would be dirty, dirty socialism so clearly the only answer is to bury our heads in the sand and continue belching toxic fumes into the sky. Michael Medved thinks that gay marriage is just a fad and that eventually public opinion is going to turn around once they figure out the TRUTH about marriage. He also says that gays spend too much time focusing on gay identity and the discrimination they face for it and that instead they should focus on all of the other areas where they're equal .

I know he's not quite a media figure (well, he does write a column), but has anyone caught anything from Orson Scott Card yet? For someone who swore in print that he'd 'rise up and destroy a government that embraced the evil of gay marriage' and only got more extreme since then, looks like it's time to show them or fold them.

From the last page.mr. mephistopheles posted:A self-proclaimed socialist just called in saying that if it wasn't for the religious aspect he would agree with the right's stance on gay marriage because all of the benefits exist to "create more people and gay marriages can't do that" and he's bitching about how the right won't acknowledge his atheist marriage as valid. I don't know how it is in the US, but over here in the Socialist Hell of Sweden, it's not extremely unusual with old guard leftist (age 60+) that don't really care about gay people all that much. The close relations between leftist parties and immigrant organisations who (sometimes) hold an extremely regressive view on LBGT rights complicates things as well (this is not exclusive for Sweden, in my experience). Being socialist doesn't automatically mean you can't be an rear end.

People were making that very point elsewhere on the forums yesterday. Lots of people are actually really fine with socialism as long as it's just for the approved groups. The second someone they don't like gets something then magically socialism is wrong. I think the example from yesterday is that there's lots of socialist white supremacists who want a lot of clearly progressive things, but only for "white" people.
