P4G is the only game in which I've gotten all of the trophies/achievments; mostly a result of only missing like two for my third playthrough and figuring "well, why not". I can't really explain why but I have a very visceral hatred of trophies in general. Like I don't know, maybe if they had some sort of tangible benefit in the game? Like unlocking new personas or something in P4G's case? Rather than gamer score or whatever the gently caress they're used for now. Aren't trophies also the primary reason we don't see cheat codes anymore?

The Risette trophy isn't particularly hard, but it is kind of a pain in the rear end if you do tend to like to be overleveled and/or only use certain characters.

Yeah, that's how I figured I shot myself in the foot with that trophy, Chie, Yukiko, and Yosuke were always my main team. Optional bosses was Kanji switched with Yosuke. If I can, this will be the first game I've platinumed because it was that good of a game.

Not really? Every game with cheat codes or whatever just makes it so you can't get achievements with them enabled. This isn't a hard thing to program.

For the Risette trophy, I'd recommend just going through as normal, but making sure to not level up *too* much (the second playthrough allows you to customise aspects of the difficulty, such as XP gain, so putting that to low makes it easier), and also switching characters every so often, making sure you use all of them. Also, let yourself get hit by status effects every once in a while. This way, you don't get too annoyed grinding for lines, and yet you still build up most of them over the course of a playthrough. If you don't have the trophy by the final dungeon, you'll just have to go grind for lines, but you should have the majority of them by that point anyway.

Annoyingly, I think I probably would've gotten the trophy on my first playthrough if not for the fact that I didn't switch party members very much...

(One final thing: Remember that many of the story bosses have one or two unique lines, so don't kill them in like two turns or something).

I already beat this game before, but I have to ask a question. I know of the new dungeon, but since it suppose to happen before the True Ending dungeon, does that mean that area is now easier since you get more levels and equipment, or they change the difficulty of that location?

They didn't rebalance the final dungeon, but it's not really any easier.

(I don't really think of this as spoilers, but it's a couple details regarding the new dungeon) You don't get any equipment out of the dungeon at all, and the enemies give really lovely EXP, even less than the ones in Heaven, so you don't really level up any either.

My wife is at the Steamy Bathhouse and is only level 17 and Shadow Kanji is destroying her because I'm guessing shes too low level. Whats the best way to grind some levels? Also is it more important to level up or work on social links and fusing Personas?

Gold Hands give the best XP and money, but they're hard to kill until you get some expanded crits or Megido skills.

What difficulty is she playing on? On Normal, a single run through the dungeon, fighting every Shadow you come across, should be enough to take on the main boss.

I think if it's your first playthrough, you can benefit from exiting out of the dungeon, selling stuff so you can buy the top of the line armor/weapons for the time.

I really wouldn't do every dungeon in one day unless you're good at rpgs.

Getting personas are more important than just grinding due to them giving you new moves and resistances. As long as you pretty much fight every enemy on your way to the top floor of a dungeon then you should be a sufficient level as well.

If you're dating Naoto and chat with her wearing that outfit while Kanji's in the party, she acts all fidgety and nervous girlfriend-like. Then you get a single line saying "Kanji looks away sadly..." and you feel like the world's greatest monster.

Wow. I missed (october-december spoilers) naoto's social link because I'm not sperging out.

Anything else like that, that I shouldn't miss? Looks like I'll have to play this game again on NG+ to be able to get all the links. I did read that finishing a certain s-link gives you an extra month. What is the time limit for that, if true?

You have to max Marie's social link before clearing Magatsu Inaba (December dungeon). However, the extra month will play out regardless of whether or not you complete it. The social link only unlocks a bonus dungeon that itself unlocks the epilogue.

Thanks for the heads up. drat.... looks like I should just restart from the 'bad ending' new game I got, or go back to october if I still have a save, and replay a lot of the game.

Finished my NG+ playthrough today and managed to 100% the compendium. Haven't felt that good about a game in a long time. Anyone know a good persona to deck out with all my skill cards for a NG++? I want to try doing a very hard game instead of normal.

There's really no point to doing a very hard run with Yoshitsune at the start.

If you have enough cards to make just about any skillset, you might as well go with whatever has reasonable defense skills and levels comparable to your party members. Maybe see how long you can hang onto Izanagi even.

Yeah, I've heard of people going through the game using nothing but Izanagi. And maybe the Magatsu and -no-Okami versions of him too, I don't really remember.

Oh cool, what's the plot-stuff to gameplay ratio like in this? I don't really like being overly bothered by videogame plots, but I do enjoy running around dungeons and leveling up characters and crap like that. Is this a one hour of cutscenes then ten minutes of dungeon kind of RPG?

It takes 2 hours roughly before you even get to the first dungeon for reference.

Keep in mind there might some crossover between "story" and "gameplay" depending upon how you view the life sim aspects.

Pornographic Memory

If you want similar gameplay with less story you should probably look into the "main line" Shin Megami Tensei games - Nocturne, Strange Journey, and IV. They're all on different systems though.

Persona 4 is story heavy as gently caress. The dungeon crawling aspect is pretty fun and your Personas are basically Pokemon but drawn from mythology, and it's fairly challenging, but you can't really get around that you're gonna have to sit through lots of story to get to your dungeon crawling.

Not to be a total :spergin:, but coming into this after playing the vanilla release two years ago, I'm honestly overwhelmed all over again at all the ways I can waste my time in this game. It's already the end of July (I've almost unlocked Void Quest) and my social links are hilariously anemic while I focus on pumping my social stats first. I'm planning on finishing my main party S.Links (including Rise), the Dojima links, Hermit, Jester and Aeon. Everything else is icing on this playthrough.

I guess my question is: how easy will it be to build up some late-blooming S.Links in this version of the game? Obviously I can't get 100%, but things with any sort of time limit always end up making me nervous.
