Speaking of which, are there any chances of getting a roleplay set in the NJO era?

I really want to see Steve's reaction to the Yuuzhan Vong.

Yay! I was delighted to see that Call of Cthulhu has made its way back into WTF DnD. The three previous playthroughs were some of my favorite stuff on all of SA.

The last appearance of Cobain in Call of Cthulhu fiction that I saw was in the short story collection "Delta Green: Dark Theatres," in the story "Suicide Watch." It's by far the strongest entry in the book, but unfortunately has no Eazy-E cameo.

Zack: Kurt Cobain is dual wielding his tonfas to incapacitate the prostitute. He is highly experienced in the Thai martial art of Krabi Krabong (60%) following his time as a South African mercenary fighting in Southeast Asia.

I haven't read any of this series before, I don't know anything about DnD and figured I wouldn't have any interest in it.

But, holy poo poo, these last two entries have been hilarious.

I'm going to read back through some past articles, are there any highlights I should specifically check out?

I'm fond of the previous Call of Cthulhu playthroughs from "Mansions of Madness":

http://www.somethingawful.com/dungeons-and-dragons/mansions-madness-plantation/

And also the ridiculous playthrough of the X-men RPG.
http://www.somethingawful.com/dungeons-and-dragons/magnet-wolverine-rogueboobs/

I recommend reading all of the WTF D&D series, but the highlights are easily the playthroughs. There's also articles where Steve and Zack just go through sourcebooks and make fun of the art and terrible ideas presented within. I read everything without having ever played a pen and paper RPG, and I loved the series.

EDIT: And the Maid playthrough was absolutely amazing for how much Zack subverted it:
http://www.somethingawful.com/dungeons-and-dragons/maid-gross-lolita/1/

EDIT: gently caress it. Here's a list of all or most of the playthroughs in chronological order:

Yeah, playthrough articles tend to be great. Additionally pretty much all the old D&D reviews are good as the 1st edition had some serious game mechanical issues and hilarious artwork (it's not easy to be the innovator).

And of course, learning about F.A.T.A.L. is a good way to lose few sanity points.

Thanks for compiling those into a list. The X-Men one is my favorite, if only for this exchange:

"Steve: Alright well when Colossus gets up here he is going to twist off the Fixer's head and throw it out the window with all his super strength.

Zack: The X-Men aren't evil, Steve. They don't decapitate and mutilate an unconscious enemy.

Steve: Yeah, okay, fine dude. Toot, toot! Railroad me through this sucker."

The only problem with the latest update "Heroes Unlimited: The Justice Machine" is that it was Palladium at its most mediocre bad, instead of spectacularly bad. This looks like it was a "two months to publication time, no time to edit the art" type of failure, as opposed to "Kevin Siembieda wants to spend all his time and money publishing an epic about dinosaur robots fighting blind ninja assassin babes in alternative-dimension Japan".

Not, of course, that I am objecting. Especially since it has been so long since we have had an update.
