Yep, they had a paintball field, too. I never did the paintball, just the karts. Got certified on the unrestricted ones, spent many a Fridays down there after eating at the Hooters up the road.

e- also, Kurt Busch owns, he's racing this on Friday night at Daytona.

Had my first try at these on the weekend - twin-engine hire karts (video not mine)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjmE8TWHnMA&t=218s

Had 3 races, came 1st in our group and 1st out of 40 karts in the last race :)

e: Not so much because you're a terrible person or anything, but mostly because you're in the wrong place.

It was Jan 1st and it was almost freezing, and they're just standard issue kart gloves, not like they're fire proof or poo poo like that.
I still do wear the wear them today, but it's for long enduro stints. They're not strictly necessary but they cut down on blisters.

Also, I think you missed the point. Previous post was all "I went karting and lol". My point was keep at it, eventually you'll out grow it. Once you out grow it, go find faster people to race with. It's addictive.

VVV That sounds like so much fun it's probably illegal VVV

I think someone needs to combine the two activities that have been mentioned and mount a paintball gun on each kart. I haven't decided if I think it'd be more fun with 2-person karts (gunner+pilot) or "flying" solo.

I've actually never watched Top Gear Australia, but they make a really good point in this clip:

Over 3 seconds faster on 20" vs. 22" wheels, that's pretty huge.

I found another reference to a Ray Thatcher who organized an MG meet two years ago in Australia... what are the chances? Guessing he survived.

I would be be pleasantly surprised if he did. When they show the accident again and again in slow motion you really seethe impact and wonder how anyone could possibly survive that sort of hit.

I went to the San Diego location a ton when I was a kid. The outdoor track was huge.

I also remember taking a left turn at high speed and watching my front left wheel roll away into the grass infield. So theres that.

The best go-karts were at Action Park. The attendants would actually give you a tennis ball to cram into the governor if you slipped them :10bux:

Also, there was a microbrew located there and they didn't check ID's.

Action Park as a whole was an amazing place.

e- Here's a cool podcast about it.
