Can't find the proper fix on google, but it was something about giving the game more memory. I think it defaults to 2gb ram used or something you had to open some file in a hex-editor or something similar to edit it to use more memory. I was under the impression this got fixed with a patch, but I'll look into it. Thanks.

Well, the Aztecs believed their sacrifices were necessary to fuel the universe basically, so perhaps one could spin the death of Jesus on the cross as being a sacrifice of a god to himself, making a sacrifical perpetual motion machine to power the cosmos.

I know yall are on the Vikings deal, but I just started playing Republics and drat. Started out as Gotland and now I rule the Most Serene Republic of Lithuania. In my wars to form Lithuania, I had something interesting happen for the first time. In a Holy War for the Duchy of Lithuania, just as I was about to take the warscore to 100%, the war ended inconclusively. The dude (high chief?), on the eve of his defeat, converted to Catholicism. So this ends the war and he keeps his lands and I have to start plotting and fabricating and stabbing. I'd never seen a NPC convert and never seen conversion end a war. http://www.medievalists.net/2013/07/21/crac-des-chevaliers-struck-by-missile-heavily-damaged/ One of the most famous crusader castles, Crac des Chevaliers, just got whacked by an airstrike in Syria. Pretty extensive damage to a really historic building. What a shame.

That is a real shame. Still, it's very impressive that a thousand years later the Syrian rebels were still able to use it for its original purpose, as a fort. Until the airstrike I guess.

So, this game has no goal so I've set myself with one. To be Calif and to unite Persia, Arabia, and everything South of it. Pretty touch, but so far I'm loving this game. CK II+, is it a bit weird for anyone else? I like it a lot but some of the things in it seem a bit confusing to me, but that is probably my fault for not reading more into it. I'm sure there is a wiki for all the mods and such for this game- but I do like some of the things it does. Going from Sunni to Pagan is weird faith wise, since its done so much differently. Speaking of, the Shia Caliph is my vassal and I'm trying to absolutely destroy his whole faith as I unite the world- any way I can convert him, currently it seems like I can't and I may just end up slowly killing off people one by one till his Dynasty dies with him. A brutal concept.

Sicily is pretty fragmented at the start, so you can do the trade post -> seize city -> seize county thing for a while and eventually start holy warring. If all else fails, you can also swear fealty to the Byzantines.

I'm curious, if you make an Antipope and then press his claim as an Emperor and he becomes your vassal, can you get him to declare crusades on whichever infidels you want? Or even then is it only when the Pope feels like it?

IIRC you can get easy excommunications and divorces with an antipope even without making him the regular Pope. The other reason to press an antipope's claim (other than vassalizing the Pope) is that the presence of antipopes hurts the Catholic moral authority.

Bishop Rodan posted:I'm sure this has already been asked a thousand times, but who's the best/easiest Norse character to play as in the Old Gods start? Harald Fairhair in Ostlandet is probably the easiest, him or the dude in Sweden, I think it's Bjorn Ironside. They've got strong starts with room to expand before they come up against anyone who'll be a big threat. I imagine the dude in Denmark is in a similar situation but he might get into a fight with the Karlings. The ones in the British Isles are of varying difficulty; Jorvik's a tough start and Dublin looks even harder. Ivar the Boneless, in Scotland, has a comparatively easier time and should be able to create Skotland and push through the rest of the Isles with relatively little difficulty. Out east there's also Rurik and Dyre but I've never played them so I can't really comment. Pretty sure Rurik starts out in a much stronger position than Dyre does though.

IIRC the way that mod works you need to reconquer all of Sicily, Syria and Egypt before you're allowed to use your Imperial Reclamation CB on Rome.

My King of Wales just became King of Jerusalem! I was pretty surprised as my contribution to the Crusade didn't seem that big to me, I just sent 10k men initially, came back home to squash a rebellion, then sent 10k men again. Now to divvy up the spoils. Over 40 titles. Would holding both kingdom titles be a major hurdle?

Holding jerusalem would give you a foreign ruler penalty and generally be a pain in the rear end to protect once the Muslims want it back. I'd give it off to a family member. Let them deal with it.
