If you want to run emu on a CRT, use a CRT computer monitor. If you can find a used 1084S Commodore monitor those are perfect for retro-gaming. I used to have an Amiga back in the day but after it kicked the bucket I had the idea of hooking my SNES to the monitor to see if it gave me the crisp visuals of the SNES demo units. The difference was like night and day and I did this back in 1993 before it was cool.

Yo, is Bahamut Lagoon a repro? Would you mind taking photos of the cover? I've got a few repro carts, mostly RPGs that didn't come out in English, and don't know how best to display them. Speaking of which, I don't actually see Front mission in there. If you're into SRPGs, it's the absolute tits and I absolutely recommend it to everyone. If you're looking for a quick bash and don't care about the story, it's 100% playable on the japanese cart, since all the menus are still in English. Not to mention you can pick up boxed copies for about $15 or so. Unused fucked around with this message at 02:08 on Jul 24, 2013 |

I'd use the Super Nintendo logo that triplexpac provided and even though you were probably just doing this as a hobby, trust me, it's way more satisfying to goto a decent printer shop and get it printed in high quality. You'll just feel better about yourself every time you look at it and it's a few bucks you might have wasted on a coffee or something. As for the yellow, I think of black when it comes to Super Mario Bros., blue when it comes to Super Mario Bros. 2 and yellow when I think of Super Mario Bros. 3 so unless you went with something wildly different, going with one of the designs is fine. I would have probably went with a more first generation NES box cover design like how the Mario/Duck Hunt boxes looked but hey I'm not the artist. Yellow is fine by me! I liked the art too for what it's worth. Reminded me of SMB3's box with the yellow color.

It was cheaper to buy the Japanese cart for a dollar and use an online English guide to play through it. I've got the original Front Mission but I bought that on the DS. Also this is the Bahamut lagoon cover I used. http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?game_id=7649 I just wish cover project would stop uploading a billion revisions of already existing NES covers and actually get to doing other systems.

At least for the shooters you can import a collection of all of them for the PSP.

But...but...my Art Deco modernist deconstruction Super Mario Bros. 3 cover with commentary on American foreign policy in WWII vis a vis its relation to 9/11 (with bonus obscure Gundam reference)! Speaking of NES games, I'm now officially on board the Battle of Olympus bandwagon. The Arstechnica editor picks for their favorite NES games swayed me a bit, but the cheap price, combined with free and local shipping, just compounded the impulse buy on Ebay. Doesn't hurt that I suspect it's going to be going up in demand down the line. I cleaned the contacts and tried it out for a bit in the Famiclone, and I'm definitely seeing the Zelda II similarity; yet, it seems to have its own potential, nonetheless.

Guru Yaekob posted:The Gamecube is one of the most criminally underrated systems of all time. And that's a good thing, I was picking up gamecube games with a case for less than a stick of gum. Gamestop had sales where gamecube games were 75% off and occasionally they would let you get buy 2 get 2 free. So say a game was 5 dollars, I would pay a buck fifty after the 75% off, get another game that was around the same price then pick two more five dollar games, I'm buying four games for 3 dollars. Mind you 5 dollars was on the expensive end of things. Sometimes 10 dollars would be the starting price for the Call of Duty games but 75% off reduces them down to $2.50. Majority of the time poo poo was going for less than 5 dollars and I'm paying cents for entire games even before the Buy 2 Get 2. I picked up Summoner 2: A Goddess Reborn, Lost Kingdoms 2, Evolution Worlds, Eternal Darkness, Twilight princess and a slew of others all in a single go. They were even getting rid of the Gamecube Demo Discs like the Pokémon Stadium one with Jirachi, Resident Evil 4 demo discs, the Star Wars Demo Disc, were all something like 15-25 cents after the discount. Unrelated: I'm absolutely in love with my Sharp Twin Fami. Although I've been bemoaning the composite video quality in it's natural state (I opted to get a sleek red console as opposed to one with SVideo, which I learned about later), I am excited to potentially have an awesome original Nintendo console that works amazingly (assuming the incoming NES->Famicom converter I have coming works better than the current one I have.) But really, the Disk novelty just amazes me. I grabbed a copy of Kid Icarus on disk and I can't believe this poo poo still works. It clunks a lot, but the fact that I am running a game off of a 3.5" floppy just makes me so giddy. Are there any recommendations for games I should get that run off disk? I just grabbed SMB2-JP. Thinking about watching for the obvious Metroid and Zelda grabs. Is there anything else I should be looking for?
