So, does an unlocked phone originating in the US have to stay in the US? I'm curious because I see no postings here.

As long as the phone has compatible frequencies with your carrier of choice, any unlocked GSM phones will work outside of their country of origin. In fact, I'm using the Rogers version of the Nokia Lumia 920 on T-Mobile USA and it works great and I have HSPA+ support. It'll definitely work the other way around.
