I can wait an extra few months past the already 8 month wait to get a cheaper Malakov that'd be hard pressed to be more static than this one. I am a giant weirdo and like it. His fluff and abilities make him out to be sort of an imperious, aloof douche, and that pose communicates it well. Gesturing with his sword while resting his hand languidly on his hand cannon. I don't mind pledging money to get WarmaXCom made and also get that dude.

I picked up Grim Angus so I can try a new Warlock, and grabbed the minimum Kriel Warrior squad + UA. You bought kriels and UA. That's a great place to play because not many people use them due to expense. Welcome to the most hardcore sloggers in warmahordes, and I say that with respect to Fennblades. I'm ok at Trolls so here's what I've got. Grim is not amazing with kriels (sorry) but pMadrak is loving amazing with them. Kriels are kind of caster dependent, so you want to run them under p/eMadraks spells or Borka's. For grim you want a self sufficient central force, which kriels can do, but fenns do a tiny bit better unless your kriels are packing cabers (get cabers). This is not gospel, kriel warriors are very good on their own with a felcaller and if you also leave Janissa in there it will be gently caress your enemies. Your main thing to remember is that Borka/Calandra/Madrak will be with you warriors, while Grim will be with a couple of beasts looking for an angle. I really love fenns with Grim but kriels are also amazing, the only issue is hitting power. If you need a loving ridiculous tarpit that wont die, kriels, if you need a loving ridiculous tarpit that will hit and maybe die (but not much) fenns.

I would argue that Kriels work pretty ok with just about anyone, especially when they can use their combat prayer for +2 MAT and damage. I think he's got a good start to a list. Building from there, Grim is crying for an Impaler for the animus, then filling out the Kriels to full. After that I think the usual suspects- Fell Caller, KSB+UA, and maybe another heavy beast.

Fill out your beasts with Grim first. I suggest bomber, impaler, pyre or slag, and an earthborn to start. After that you can really choose anything. Fennblades are a local favourite because they suck to clear out and are incredibly fast. Also independent. Misread post: three out of those four are pieces you'll want anyway. You might want a slag or pyre for the damage buff but that's kinda optional, because you can get Rage instead.

Crosspost from the painting thread, just finished my new warmachine tabletop: I'm going to surprise my regular playing buddy with this on Thursday... up until now I had 12" long MDF boards with grass mats glued to them, which wasn't as nice and was constantly abused by him judging distances based on the length of the gametiles. Not anymore!

I didn't think Grim would be good with the KW's, I mostly picked him up just to try something new. I've got two Impalers painted up as well, so if I ran Grim I'd probably find a way to fit in at least one of the Impalers for his animus. I debated between the Fennblades and Kriel Warriors for a while, but settled on the KW's mostly because I couldn't come up with a decent 15-point list using them along with the models I currently have. Kept sitting at either 14 or 16 points I think.

I was a little bit apprehensive to tell my new girlfriend where I was going on Thursdays. Which is table top night at ye olde local game store. But she was cool with it, and liked the hobby aspect since she's into art. I didn't expect her to look over the PP website and find a model she liked, and then buy it at the local game store. So now there is an Aurora in mid priming. I helped her assemble it a little, but the glue just wasn't holding so I had to pin most if it. I'm not sure she will get into playing, I still have to show her how it works.

After not liking my Warhammer stuff for the longest time, as soon as I got into Warmachine/Hordes my girlfriend started taking an interest in the hobby, and now we have a Cryx battlebox on the way for her. Definitely makes finding time for painting and playing easier when the lady is into it as well.

He is pretty close to unkillable, particularly if your heaviest hitters are gone, so he could sit there all day long and deny you control points and there was nothing you could do about it. So you're not allowed to do this now? How do they enforce that? "Hey, you have to charge with your dude and use enough spells that you'll maybe die."?
|
# ? Aug 2, 2013 04:02 |

They enforce it by writing a rule in the SR document that says warcasters/warlocks don't contest. They can sit and camp all they want, they just won't prevent the opponent from scoring.

Omar al-Bishie posted:So you're not allowed to do this now? How do they enforce that? "Hey, you have to charge with your dude and use enough spells that you'll maybe die."? Warcasters cannot contest zones/objectives by themselves. So, if your caster is the only thing left alive, you can camp and be unkillable, but your opponent can score free uncontestable points. The switchoff is that warcasters/warlocks are the only thing that can dominate a zone/objective, which means that your warcaster controls it without anything else contesting. If so, they score double points usually, or they can score points by dominating friendly zones/objectives. It's a very solid system, and I absolutely love it.

That and pairing down the number of scenarios and sizes of zones has done fantastic things for steamroller.

What's the Judicator like relative to the Conquest and Stormwall? I've played against the Cygnar and Khador Collossals but never seen the Judicator. It seems like a jerk thing on paper but I rarely play against Menoth these days so I don't really get where it fits with them.

It seems like a jerk thing on paper but I rarely play against Menoth these days so I don't really get where it fits with them. It is a fantastic piece, it combines 2 Redeemers and 2 Repenters into one focus efficient jack. However, it is only good with about 3 casters. With eFeora it is the bomb. Putting out AOEs with continuous fire and getting escort for some extra speed. Both Servius's like it, one for the Eye of Menoth and the other for the no hit bond. The other caster's just don't have a lot to make it work. It's draw backs that it is slow, has a low defense and can't hit for poo poo with it's rockets, even with the choir buff. With the Durant, we might see some change since Fortify not coming off of the primary caster is great. It also means that he can spread the Focus love around while still keep close to the Judy incase Durant get's iced.

Judicator is hyper efficienct if you're going for mass troop clearing in your Protectorate lists, if you typically run say a Vanquisher and two Redeemers, you're worth clobbering in for a Judicator, but if you're going for a lot of single shot firepower, it's better to rock double Reckoners or Reckoner/Bone Wagon for your points. As said, it's really good with Feora2 and the Sevvies, but it works quite well with most Warcasters, it's just a question of "do you really need to sink 18pts in troop clearance" in this list.
