single-mode fiber posted:It's probably because they were handheld Lean up against a tree or sit down, learn to fire the shutter as you exhale, make sure you got a solid grip on the camera and brace your arms against your torso.. it'll never be as good as an actual tripod but you can get some solid results. The breathing thing is the most important but it all adds up. Best I've been able to do is 1/4 with IS enabled. And scaling the image down to hide the fuzz.

Yeah, overall it wasn't too terrible, I was able to get the waterfall effect I wanted with exposures between 0.4 and 1.3 seconds, and they're not horribly soft, I'd just have to scale them down to like half their original size for printing. What I really need is a month up there by myself, where I can gently caress around with gear at my own pace.

Just some recent shots. The first two were taken on some farms in the middle of a cold front which passed through and left us with sunny skies in one direction and dark storm clouds in the other. The last image in a 6 image panorama of the coast of the Helderberg basin in South Africa, shot just after sunset.

I've got a cool city Cold front shot that I need to upload. I took it yesterday from my 4th story apartment window. We don't really get those C shaped clouds roll through as much as you Midwest folks. It was a pretty freaky looking thing. This one even had a few spots of mild rotation in the clouds.

Some pictures I took while I was doing some work in Idaho last summer. I wish the pocket camera I used to take them didn't make the pictures so grainy. I liked the early morning lighting on this one. Next couple are the Salmon River Valley, taken along an (ex)trail in the Frank Church Wilderness. Old trading outpost down inside the valley.

This is Switzerland. Honest! OK technically, I own this camera for a few months now, but it's the second time I can truly use it in very good conditions. This RX100 is such a neat little piece of hardware, and I'm having a lot of pleasure using it.

Yeah, you had some really good lighting going on. Those are some really nice pictures. You should run around taking more pictures.. because either you've got an innate eye for composition or that camera you have is loving magic.

I guess I'll start to post more in this subforum.
